In response to the national “dual carbon” strategy, to promote the green and low-carbon transformation of the automotive industry and drive the green upgrade of the entire industrial chain, on September 12th, the Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Jiangsu Society of Automotive Engineers and the Nanjing Automobile Industry Association, held a “Dual Carbon Transformation Training for Jiangsu Province’s Automotive Industry’s Whole Vehicle and Parts Enterprises” at the Nake Hongshan Science and Technology Innovation Park in Nanjing.

The conference invited experts from Jiangsu Tongyuan Carbon Neutrality, Jiangsu Qinggong Internet, and the Nanjing Branch of China CITIC Bank to discuss core topics such as “Zero-Carbon Factory Practice, ESG Enhancement, Electricity Retail Market, Energy Platform Construction, and Green Finance”. The training content was closely integrated with policies and practical operations. It covers the interpretation of domestic and international automotive carbon reduction policies, the construction path of zero-carbon factories, carbon footprint calculation methods, and the application of green financial tools, providing systematic guidance for enterprises to achieve low-carbon transformation. A total of 80 people from 50 vehicle and parts manufacturing enterprises in our city, including Nanjing Changan Automobile, Kewei New Energy Automobile, Nanjing Lide Dongfang and Nanjing Guansheng Auto Parts, as well as the District Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, participated in the training.

According to the data, in 2023, the total carbon emissions of China’s entire automotive industry chain reached 1.56 billion tons of CO₂, accounting for 14% of the country’s energy-related carbon emissions, among which the manufacturing of components accounted for more than 40%. Against the backdrop of increasingly tightened global carbon constraint policies, accelerating the “dual carbon” transformation has become the inevitable path for enterprises to cope with international market barriers and achieve sustainable development. Through this training, our bureau, in collaboration with provincial and municipal industry institutions, has further assisted enterprises in grasping policy directions and mastering emission reduction technologies. By analyzing cases and engaging in interactive exchanges, we aim to promote coordinated carbon reduction across the entire industrial chain, drive the green, low-carbon and high-quality development of the automotive industry, and help the automotive industry move towards the goal of carbon neutrality.
