“Dexterous Hands” and “Smart Eyes” Debut Together
Can hear, see and feel
2024 is defined as the “first year of humanoid robots”. If humanoid robots want to move “smoothly”, a pair of dexterous hands is essential. Yesterday afternoon, at the Nanjing Artificial Intelligence Innovation Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, industry experts and entrepreneur representatives from all over the country were attracted by a special “hand”.
This “universal intelligent dexterous hand” (Casia Hand) consists of 5 fingers, each finger has 3 joints, and each joint has 1 degree of freedom. According to the relevant person in charge, the “dexterous hand” imitates human tendons instead of gear drive, and its load capacity has reached 7 kilograms. In addition to building a hardware carrier, it is also embedded with AI algorithms, which means that the “dexterous hand” has a certain degree of autonomous learning ability and perception and judgment ability. After the robot learns to grasp an object, it can “learn from it” next time and quickly learn to grasp objects of similar shapes.
In April 2024, Casia Hand won the gold medal at the Geneva International Invention Exhibition and the special award of the exhibition, the “ISTA Global Innovation and Invention Award”. Just two months later, this innovative achievement was incubated and implemented at the Nanjing Artificial Intelligence Innovation Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is currently planning to realize small-scale production of the “dexterous hand” in Nanjing.
The rapid completion of the “last mile” of the industrialization of achievements is due to the “5V integrated” achievement transformation model launched by Nanjing Qilin Science and Technology Park, where the CAS Nanjing Artificial Intelligence Innovation Institute is located, namely the local government, the CAS parent institute, the Nanjing Institute, the achievement research and development team, and the industrialization service team. Nanjing Qilin Science and Technology Park, the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the CAS Nanjing Artificial Intelligence Innovation Institute jointly screened the transformable achievements of the Institute of Automation. Then, with the help of the industrialization service team of the Nanjing Institute, the achievement research and development team established an industrialization company in the form of off-duty entrepreneurship, and quickly promoted the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

The answer given by Xiaoshi Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Xiaoshi Technology”) is “less than a second.”
