Recently, TICA-EXERGY, a subsidiary of Tianjia Energy, an enterprise in Nanjing Economic Development Zone, and its partner Geothermal Engineering Ltd have made significant progress in the design and construction of the United Downs geothermal power station project in Cornwall, United Kingdom. The plant is the United Kingdom’s first deep hot dry rock geothermal power plant and will be commissioned by the end of 2024.Recently, a significant development was achieved in the United Downs geothermal power station project. This project, situated in Cornwall, UK, is designed and constructed by EXERGY under TICA Energy, located in Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone, and its partner Geothermal Engineering Ltd. This power station is set to become the UK’s first deep dry rock geothermal power plant and is scheduled to commence operations in late 2024.

The United Downs geothermal power plant project uses TICA-EXERGY’s unique high-efficiency radial centrifugal turbine technology to generate electricity using geothermal fluids and air cooling as a cooling system using the organic Rankine cycle principle, without consuming water resources.
The United Downs geothermal power station project utilizes the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and employs TICA-EXERGY’s exclusive high-efficiency Radial Outflow Turbine (ROT) technology to generate electricity, exploiting the heat of the geothermal fluid. Its condensing system is air-cooled, conserving water resources.
As the United Kingdom’s first deep hot dry rock geothermal project, two deep directional wells have been drilled, of which the production well has a depth of 5,275 metres, the deepest in mainland United Kingdom. After the project is officially put into operation, it is expected to save more than 6,500 tons of carbon emissions per year.
