Two big projects, new on the same day!

Two big projects

On May 9, Nanjing Jiangbei New Material Science and Technology Park signed a cooperation framework agreement with Bluestar Adisseo Nanjing Co., Ltd., and Bluestar Adisseo Nanjing Co., Ltd. was upgraded to the headquarters of Bluestar Adisseo in China.

As the core enterprise of Sinochem’s life science sector, Bluestar Adisseo has long focused on the field of animal nutrition, and is one of the few manufacturers that can produce both liquid and solid methionine, and has the world’s most advanced integrated production process of liquid methionine.

In 2021, Bluestar Adisseo set up a China R&D and Innovation Center in the Science and Technology Park, committed to building a source of original animal nutrition technology. In September 2022, the second phase of the 180,000 tons/year liquid methionine project of Bluestar Adisseo Nanjing Plant was put into operation, becoming the monomer plant with the largest liquid methionine production capacity in the world, further consolidating its leading position in the world of methionine.

Driven by the “two wheels” of the Nanjing factory and the R&D center, the New Material Science and Technology Park has become a large-scale comprehensive operation base integrating production, supply, R&D and innovation.

Also on May 9, the opening ceremony of the expansion of the Nanjing additive plant of BASF Performance Chemicals (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. was held in the New Material Science and Technology Park.

Scheduled to start production by the end of 2025, the project includes a cutting-edge production line for the production of high-performance dispersants based on BASF’s unique controlled radical polymerization (CFRP) technology, which will have an annual production capacity of 4,800 metric tons of high-performance additives to meet the rapidly growing market demand in Asia and beyond.

BASF’s high-performance additives project is a major project in Jiangbei New Area in 2024, with a total planned investment of 200 million yuan. High-performance additives are widely used in industrial coatings and automotive coatings. The implementation of the project will help to improve the layout and iterative upgrading of the high-end fine chemicals industry in the New Material Science and Technology Park, and help the park extend to the high-end product chain.

BASF is committed to providing top-notch, high-performance additives and formulations to the coatings industry. Over the past decade, the Nanjing site has undergone several expansions and has become an important hub for BASF’s additives production in China and the Asia-Pacific region, enabling seamless integration of production, technical services and R&D. The investment in the expansion of the additives plant at the Nanjing site will further strengthen BASF’s production footprint in China.
