On January 16th, the Health Baking Functional Food Collaborative Innovation Joint Laboratory jointly established by China Pharmaceutical University and Nanjing Yizhou Food Technology Co., Ltd. was inaugurated at the Jiangning Campus of China Pharmaceutical University. This marks that the “pharmaceutical food integration + baking” cross-border model has entered the practical stage and is expected to fill the gap in the functional baking market.

China Pharmaceutical University, as an authoritative university in the fields of pharmacy and life sciences in China, has research advantages in functional component research and bioavailability evaluation, providing cutting-edge support for the development of health foods. Nanjing Yizhou Food Technology Co., Ltd. is a representative of the food industry in Lishui, possessing a complete baking industrial chain capability. It cooperates with over 30 well-known brands such as Hema and San Shizi, serving over 300,000 people per day, and has a solid industrial foundation and market influence.

On the spot, Yu Guangcong expressed gratitude to all the parties in Lishui for their trust and support to the school. He stated that the school would take this cooperation as an opportunity to deepen scientific research efforts and talent cultivation, promote collaborative innovation between the school and enterprises, jointly build high-level laboratories and transformation platforms for achievements, and actively promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and industrial upgrading. Xu Zhenghong, in his speech, said that this cooperation is an important measure to deepen the integration of “industry-university-research-application”, implement the “Healthy China 2030” strategy, and promote the high-quality development of the regional food industry. The Lishui government will provide full support in terms of policies, resources and scenarios. They hope that the laboratory can accelerate technology transformation and brand building, and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of Lishui.

The Health Baking Functional Food Collaborative Innovation Joint Laboratory will leverage the research advantages of China Pharmaceutical University and the industrial resources of Yizhou Food to innovatively create a “pharmaceutical and food source integration + baking” model. Through the screening of biological extracts and formula optimization, it will focus on specific customer groups such as diabetics and fitness enthusiasts, developing a series of functional baking products with low GI, sugar and lipid repair, weight loss and fat reduction, and health supplements, achieving “reducing sugar without sacrificing flavor”, and meeting diverse health needs. Currently, Yizhou Food has established a new production base in Yongyang Street, which will be used to undertake the transformation of laboratory achievements and large-scale production. Once the base is completed, it is expected to achieve an annual output value of approximately 800 million yuan, which will strongly promote the transformation of health baking technology and the construction of the industrial ecosystem.

In recent years, Lishui District has adhered to the strategy of “focusing on manufacturing and strengthening industries”, incorporating new pharmaceuticals and life health into the “two new and two intelligent” leading industrial system. It has been striving to build a collaborative innovation platform for industry-university-research cooperation, promoting cross-border integration in the fields of food and medicine. It has also attracted a number of industry-leading enterprises such as Hengsheng Pharmaceutical and Yuda Pharmaceutical. Currently, the Yongyang Biomedical Science and Technology Innovation Park is accelerating its construction, focusing on attracting high-quality enterprises in medical devices, chemical pharmaceuticals, and traditional Chinese medicine health preservation to settle in, and striving to build an industrial innovation highland and cluster. By 2025, the output value of the new pharmaceuticals and life health industry in the district has exceeded 10.2 billion yuan, presenting a strong development trend.
