The communication industry in Nanjing has fully leveraged the strategic, foundational and leading role of the information and communication sector. It has been committed to consolidating and enhancing its competitive edge and leading position in the information and communication industry, actively integrating into the overall development of Nanjing’s economy and society. Centering on the task of high-quality development, it has been steadily advancing various tasks and achieving positive results.
It is understood that in 2025, the communication industry will actively provide support for its development. It will vigorously promote the “upgrade of 4G and 5G networks”, improve the “dual gigabit” network construction, promote the “dual ten-gigabit” evolution and upgrade, and comprehensively strengthen the information and communication infrastructure. By the end of 2025, the city will have over 49,000 5G base stations in total, with 52 base stations per 10,000 people (the highest in the province). There are 10.52 million fixed internet broadband access ports, among which 1006 million are FTTH/O ports and 235,600 10GPON ports have been built. The bandwidth of the Nanjing backbone interconnection point is 4,700G and the international Internet dedicated channel is 40G.
We are vigorously promoting the construction of “Yanfan City” for 5G applications, promoting technological innovation in industries and the integration of industries, organizing the “Millisecond Computing” construction action to enhance the efficient carrying capacity of computing power, promoting the integration of computing and network, and supporting Nanjing in furthering the “Artificial Intelligence +” initiative, aiming to build a “6G City”, etc. Currently, the penetration rate of 5G in key industries exceeds 30%, the number of 5G IoT terminal connections is 862,700, the number of 5G industry virtual private networks is 239, the number of winning projects in the “Daihua Cup” 5G Application Collection Competition National Competition is 63, and there are 28 5G + pilot projects and outstanding cases.
The communication industry in Nanjing has continuously strengthened its development support. They have carried out the “12345” hotline communication service quality improvement special action, and earnestly implemented various measures for serving the people, such as “Ten Heartwarming Services for the Information and Communication Industry” and “Suzhou Heartfelt Commitment, Thirteen Policies for Warmth”. They have standardized and promoted the “One-Net-Service” for communication installation applications, continuously improving the efficiency of government services. They have completed a number of important communication guarantee tasks, such as the Nanjing “Su Chao” competition, Nanjing Marathon, Confucius Temple Lantern Festival, and New Year’s Eve events. They have strengthened emergency communication guarantee drills for flood prevention, improved communication guarantee plans and emergency response plans, effectively responding to various adverse environments and climatic conditions such as floods, typhoon passage, and strong winds, ensuring the stable operation of the communication network throughout the city and maintaining a good overall safety and resilience level.
It is understood that in 2025, the entire industry will achieve a total “telecommunication business volume” of 19.522 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth rate of 8.2%, which is 3.2 percentage points higher than the previous year. Since the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, the major local telecommunications enterprises have cumulatively completed investment of over 100 billion yuan, purchased local products and services worth over 300 billion yuan, paid taxes and fees of over 6 billion yuan annually, established multiple specialized companies through investment, and invested in local enterprises with an amount of approximately 3 billion yuan (based on incomplete statistics). This has made positive contributions to supporting the operation of the city’s economy and the integration of industrial development.
In 2026, the communication industry in Nanjing will continue to adhere to the requirements of high-quality development, balance development and security, lay a solid foundation for the “15th Five-Year Plan”, and strive to promote the new practice of China-style modernization in Nanjing. It will contribute the power of communication to write a new chapter of “strong, prosperous, beautiful and highly developed” modernization construction in Jiangsu Province in Nanjing.
