The 2025 Yangtze River Delta Leading Officials’ Symposium was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu.

From June 6th to 7th, the 2025 annual symposium of leading officials from the Yangtze River Delta region was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Attendees included Chen Jining, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee; Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor; Xin Changxing, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee; Xu Kunlin, Deputy Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Governor; Wang Hao, Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee; Liu Jie, Deputy Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Governor; Liang Yanshun, Secretary of the Anhui Provincial Committee; and Wang Qingxian, Deputy Secretary of the Anhui Provincial Committee and Governor. Relevant officials from the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission and the National Development and Reform Commission were also invited to attend.

The meeting thoroughly studied and implemented the important speeches by President Xi Jinping on the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, with the theme of ‘Enhancing the Regional Innovation Capacity of the Yangtze River Delta, Better Playing the Role of a High-Quality Development Power Source.’ It comprehensively reviewed the achievements and experiences since the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region was elevated to a national strategy, specifically summarized the progress over the past year, deeply analyzed the new missions and tasks facing the integrated development under the new situation, listened to reports on research results for major ideas and measures for further advancing the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta during the ‘Fifteenth Five-Year Plan’ period and the preparation status of the implementation plan for building a beautiful China demonstration area in the Yangtze River Delta, and deliberated on the ‘Opinions on Strengthening the Mechanisms for Urban Circle同城化Development to Enhance the High-Quality Integrated Development Level of the Yangtze River Delta.’ The discussion focused on jointly promoting the Yangtze River Delta to lead in Chinese-style modernization, collaboratively creating an important base for developing new productive forces, promoting cross-regional synergy in scientific and industrial innovation, actively constructing a high-level coordinated open pattern, continuously strengthening joint protection and governance of the ecological environment, categorically advancing the convenient sharing of public services, and accelerating the improvement of mechanisms for integrated development, among other topics. Several significant matters for further advancing the high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta were clearly defined.

The meeting pointed out that promoting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta is a major national strategic initiative personally planned, deployed, and promoted by President Xi Jinping. Regular symposiums of leading officials from the Yangtze River Delta region, initiated and promoted by President Xi Jinping when he was working in Zhejiang, have now been ongoing for 20 years. Following the guidance of President Xi Jinping, the three provinces and one municipality have focused on the keywords of integration and high quality, firmly anchored in the strategic positioning of ‘one pole, three zones, and one high ground,’ worked together with determination, and achieved significant results in integrated development, effectively playing a pioneering, exemplary, and radiating role.

The meeting emphasized that during the ‘Fifteenth Five-Year Plan’ period, the Yangtze River Delta should take the lead in Chinese-style modernization. The three provinces and one municipality need to thoroughly study and implement the important speeches by President Xi Jinping on the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, fully, accurately, and comprehensively implement the new development philosophy, adhere to the general tone of seeking progress while maintaining stability, and more vigorously promote high-level technological and innovative collaboration, jointly build a modern industrial system, enhance the level of high-level coordinated opening up, accelerate the construction of a beautiful China demonstration area in the Yangtze River Delta, continue to deepen the innovation of mechanisms for integrated development, and accelerate the creation of a strong and vibrant growth pole for national development.

The meeting noted the need to consolidate the upward economic trend and enhance the momentum for high-quality development.
