On July 30, the 2024 China (Nanjing) Cross-Border E-Commerce Opening-Up and Cooperation Conference took place, which was attended by Chen Zhichang, Mayor of Nanjing, Professor Jiang Xiaojuan from the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chong Quan, President of the China Institute for WTO Studies, Zhuang Congsheng, a specially appointed expert from the CPPCC Talent Pool for Political Participation and Consultation, Zhang Hui, Deputy General Manager of Sinosure, and municipal government leaders Lu Weidong and Ji Tiejun.
Themed “One Click Across the Sea-Trading Globally”, the conference aimed to explore new opportunities in cross-border e-commerce together and promote the high-quality development of the industry. Nanjing has a solid foundation for developing cross-border e-commerce, because it has already established four major cross-border e-commerce export industrial belts in intelligent manufacturing, outdoor products, electric tools, and textiles & garments, and also cultivated five provincial-level cross-border e-commerce export brands. Nanjing witnesses a rapid agglomeration of quality cross-border e-commerce enterprises.
In his speech, Chen Zhichang stated that cross-border e-commerce is at a critical period of rapid development and accelerated transformation. Nanjing will seize this opportunity to unleash innovative advantages, firmly grasp technological iteration changes, launch more high-quality digital services to meet various business scenario needs of cross-border e-commerce; concentrate efforts on fostering strengths and adapting actively to the changes in transformation and development, continuously enhancing comprehensive advantages in cross-border e-commerce; continue to optimize the industrial ecology, actively lead the competitive landscape changes, providing a better development environment for business entities. He expressed that enterprises and institutions will join hands with Nanjing to ride the waves in the new blue ocean of cross-border e-commerce, achieving higher quality development.
Chong Quan pointed out that cross-border e-commerce is rapidly developing globally and is a new engine for global trade growth. Through this conference, he hoped to further strengthen communication and explore new models and paths for cross-border e-commerce, jointly promoting its development.
Zhuang Congsheng expressed the hope that Nanjing will seize the broad market opportunities of cross-border e-commerce development, create a favorable institutional environment, actively cultivate the “cross-border e-commerce + industrial belt” model, and strive to set a new benchmark for high-quality development of cross-border e-commerce.
Zhang Hui stated that as the central city in the most dynamic Yangtze River Delta region of the Chinese economy, Nanjing’s cross-border e-commerce sector is showing rapid development momentum. Sinosure will continue to deepen reform efforts, stimulate innovation vitality, and assist in accelerating the development of Nanjing’s cross-border e-commerce industry.
At the conference, relevant Nanjing municipal government departments and sectors promoted the opportunities for opening-up and cooperation in Nanjing’s cross-border e-commerce, the Jiangbei New Area Xinke Cross-Border E-Commerce Industrial Park, and the Yangtze River Delta (Nanjing) Cross-Border E-Commerce Industrial Park. They also launched the “One Click for Easy Cross-Border E-commerce” integrated service platform, the Yangtze River Delta Industrial Products Cross-Border E-Commerce Selection Center, and the Nanjing Cross-Border E-Commerce Data Integration Display and Application Center.
At the conference, the Nanjing Municipal People’s Government signed a deepened strategic cooperation agreement with Sinosure Jiangsu Branch, and several cross-border e-commerce projects were signed up on the spot, The conference also witnessed the launch of the “Sail” action for Nanjing Metropolitan Area + Cross-Border E-Commerce Industrial Belt and the “Silk Road E-Commerce” Leading Talents Program for institutions of higher learning in Jiangsu Province, as well as keynote speeches delivered by several guests. Before the conference, Chen Zhichang also met some guests attending the conference.
