Recently, the “Artificial Intelligence + Agriculture” Promotion Conference and the Meeting of Agricultural and Rural Affairs Directors of Jiangsu Province was held in Nanjing. Director of the Provincial Rural Affairs Office and Director of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ji Hui, delivered a speech. Deputy Director Zhu Xinhua presided over the meeting. Representatives from the Smart Agriculture Research Institute of Nanjing Agricultural University and the Nanjing Shendong Smart Agriculture Technology and Equipment Research Institute were invited to attend this conference.

During the conference, the “Hui Genyun” intelligent agent of the Smart Agriculture Research Institute of Nanjing Agricultural University was showcased as a typical case of smart farmland in the province. It was also selected as one of the first batch of agricultural intelligent agents in Jiangsu Province and was recommended for application throughout the province.

In the exhibition area, Associate Professor Xiao Liujun gave a detailed explanation and live demonstration of the “Wisely Cultivating” agricultural intelligent agent. This intelligent agent relies on multi-source data processing and analysis capabilities and can achieve functions such as early warning of crop diseases and pests, precise assessment of growth status, and yield prediction, providing intelligent decision-making support for agricultural production. At the same time, the Nanjing Shendong Smart Agriculture Technology and Equipment Research Institute showcased through exhibition boards the implementation of the “Nanjing Rice and Wheat Cultivation Socialized Cloud Service Platform” in Nanjing. The platform deeply integrates artificial intelligence, big data, and remote sensing technologies, integrates models and algorithms such as crop growth monitoring, intelligent decision-making for fertilizers, water, and pesticides, and builds a closed-loop management system of “monitoring perception – data analysis – precise prescription – data service”. It realizes long-term growth, disease and pest monitoring, and intelligent management of rice and wheat throughout their life cycle, helping farmers reduce costs and increase efficiency, and providing planting data support for government departments.

In the future, the research institute will take the “141” action of “Artificial Intelligence + Agriculture” in Jiangsu Province as an important opportunity, focusing on the deep integration of artificial intelligence technology and the entire chain of smart agricultural production. It will closely follow the requirements of the “No. 1 Document of Jiangsu Provincial Committee in 2026” on “Promoting the Development of ‘Artificial Intelligence + Agriculture'”, and continuously research and promote replicable and scalable overall solutions for smart agriculture. Through practical actions, it will contribute to the self-reliance and strength of agricultural science and technology, inject digital momentum into rural comprehensive revitalization, and provide a Jiangsu model for the development of smart agriculture across the country.
The Nanjing National Agricultural High-tech Zone will take this as an opportunity to fully leverage its advantages as a national-level platform and the effect of resource aggregation, accelerate the demonstration and transformation of agricultural scientific and technological innovation achievements, and cultivate and expand the cluster of smart agriculture. This will contribute the “power of the agricultural high-tech zone” to comprehensively promoting rural revitalization and accelerating the construction of an agricultural power.
