Recently, the mass production event of SAIC Passenger Cars Nanjing Branch was held in Jiangning Development Zone. The models Z7/Z7T of the Shangjie brand have officially entered the mass production stage. This is an important achievement in the capacity upgrade and transformation of SAIC Passenger Cars’ products, and it has also injected strong impetus into the transformation and upgrading of the new energy vehicle industry in Jiangning and even Nanjing.
To adapt to the trends of electrification and intelligence, SAIC Passenger Vehicles has continuously increased its investment in the business layout and research and development and manufacturing of new energy and intelligent connected vehicles. After thorough preparations in the early stage, by leveraging the mature manufacturing system bases under the group, it has fully promoted the upgrading of production capacity and products. The first new model has officially entered the mass production stage.
As an important new energy vehicle production base established by SAIC Group in Nanjing, this factory covers an area of 635,000 square meters and has a construction area of 379,000 square meters. It features production workshops such as stamping, body assembly, painting, and final assembly, along with supporting auxiliary facilities. The production capacity is 210,000 passenger vehicles per year.
The newly launched Shangjie Z7/Z7T is a strategic vehicle jointly developed by SAIC Group and Harmony Auto, focusing on the young consumer group. The Shangjie Z7/Z7T is equipped with advanced technologies such as Huawei’s Tu Ling platform and ADS5.0 Harmony Intelligent Cabin. It is positioned as a mid-sized all-electric sedan, and Z7T is the first hatchback model of Harmony Auto.
“The old base has produced new products”, not only representing the upgrading of the production line, but also serving as a vivid illustration of the green and intelligent automotive industry in Jiangning Development Zone’s transition from old to new and from green to better.
It is introduced that the green and intelligent automotive industry in Nanjing Jiangning Development Zone has gathered core vehicle manufacturing enterprises such as Changan Mazda and SAIC Passenger Vehicles, as well as automotive component enterprises such as Faurecia, Fogaia, Tata, and Brebo. It has also introduced new energy vehicle manufacturing projects such as Changan Mazda and Shangjie, as well as leading enterprises in the fields of intelligent connectivity, “three-in-one” power supply, etc., such as T3 Travel, Zhongqi Chuangzhi, and SAIC Times, forming an industrial chain integrating R&D, design, testing, component manufacturing, engine manufacturing, vehicle manufacturing, marketing, and services.
Every Xiezhi vehicle that departs from the “old base” is a vivid demonstration of Nanjing’s automotive industry’s transition towards new and green development. It redefines driving pleasure with intelligence and showcases “Nanjing Made” at an accelerated pace to the world.
