I never thought that one day I would get off the subway and clock in during my busy commute… Not long ago, Nanjing Metro Line 7 was fully opened, and the Qingliangshan Station in the middle section quickly became popular and became a new landmark for clocking in in Nanjing. Dubbed by netizens as the “Niu Shou Mountain Underground Palace Branch” and the “Harry Potter Magic Platform Branch”, how did it become an “Internet celebrity”?
Qingliangshan Station has a bronze diamond-shaped decorative dome visible to the naked eye, and the LED sci-fi lights change, making people feel like they are traveling through the Dragon Palace. However, if you think that this is all there is to this “Internet celebrity”, you are wrong. This station focuses on in-depth and comprehensiveness.
What does “deep” mean? Qingliangshan Station has achieved a balance between adapting to local conditions and putting people first. A building 48 meters above the ground is an inconspicuous building in any city, but a subway station 48 meters underground may not be something that many cities can have. In Nanjing, which is mainly plains with a few hills, Qingliangshan Station, the “deepest subway station in East China”, was born with ingenuity. Friends who have been to Qingliangshan Station may ask, I have seen subway stations with one or two underground floors, why does this station have seven underground floors? In fact, this is the best solution that adapts to local conditions.
The sections on both sides of Qingliang Mountain pass under the Qinhuai River, the west city trunk road tunnel and the densely packed building foundations on the south bank of the Qinhuai River. For safety reasons, the foundations are deeply buried; at the same time, this station will also become a transfer station for Line 13 in the future, and the “deep excavation” can leave enough construction space for Line 13.
In order to reduce the inconvenience to passengers caused by “going deep”, Qingliangshan Station has set up an “underground lobby” at Exit 2, with seven large-capacity vertical elevators centrally arranged. Each elevator has a load capacity of 1,600 kilograms and can reach the station hall from the ground in 10 seconds, truly embodying the original intention of the “people-oriented” design.
Of course, as Nanjing’s first driverless subway line, Line 7 has “hard control” over the riding experience of the majority of passengers. During the ride, everyone can directly enter the cab to visit and look at the tracks and tunnels ahead, as if traveling through a deep and gorgeous time tunnel. The all-round sensory experience makes people full of expectations for the future of the subway.
