On November 21, our city and Nanjing University signed a cooperation agreement on the joint construction of atomic limit micro-manufacturing experimental facilities. This is a pragmatic measure and important achievement for both parties to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech, further deepen the cooperation between the university and the local government, and better serve the high-level scientific and technological self-reliance. Han Liming, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Chen Zhichang, Mayor, Tan Tianniu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Tan Zhemin, President of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended and witnessed the signing.
Atomic manufacturing technology can greatly enhance human ability and efficiency in creating new materials and substances, and is a cutting-edge technology field that is being competed for both at home and abroad.
Nanjing University is one of the earliest universities in China to engage in related research. Since 2019, our city and Nanjing University have jointly built the Atomic Manufacturing Institute in Pukou District to accelerate the research and development of core technologies and actively promote the construction of major scientific and technological infrastructure for atomic extreme micromanufacturing.
At present, the facility has been officially included in the first batch of key support projects of major scientific and technological infrastructure in Jiangsu Province. The signing of this agreement marks that the construction of this large scientific facility has entered the fast lane.

She said that since last year, our city and Nanjing University have kept in mind the earnest exhortations and important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, and have taken the solid promotion of a new round of school-local cooperation agreements as a starting point to further optimize the school-local integration layout, work together to deepen industrial and technological cooperation, and innovate the joint talent training mechanism, and continue to strive for breakthroughs in jointly pursuing a pragmatic and solid innovation path.

At present, Nanjing is deeply implementing the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, accelerating the construction of systems and mechanisms to support comprehensive innovation, and striving to build the main supporting area of the industrial science and technology innovation center. We hope that Nanjing University will work with us to jointly improve the integrated science and technology innovation layout, promote core technology research as a whole, build a complete set of results transformation systems, create and cultivate a number of major science and technology innovation platforms and science and technology innovation entities, and provide strong momentum for cultivating new quality productivity and promoting high-quality development.
Tan Tianniu pointed out that the Atomic Limit Micromanufacturing Experimental Facility, as one of the most cutting-edge and advanced large-scale scientific facilities at present, is of strategic significance for enhancing the country’s scientific and technological competitiveness and supporting Nanjing’s high-quality development.
Nanjing University has a solid research foundation in the field of atomic manufacturing, and the development of related technologies has always been strongly supported by Nanjing City and Pukou District. Today’s signing ceremony is another milestone in the joint construction of atomic manufacturing between the city and the university.
He said that Nanjing University will take this signing as an opportunity to continuously strengthen communication and coordination with government departments at all levels, including the Ministry of Education, Nanjing City, and Pukou District, to continuously deepen school-local cooperation, and promote the co-construction, integration, and common development of Nanjing University and Nanjing, a famous university and city. At the same time, it will also go all out to promote the construction of experimental facilities on the basis of giving full play to its advantages in disciplines, scientific research, and talents, to help Nanjing build an eastern industrial innovation center and a regional innovation highland, and to make new and greater contributions to comprehensively promoting the construction of a strong country and the great cause of national rejuvenation with Chinese-style modernization.
