Recently, multiple rail transit lines in the Nanjing Metropolitan Area have made significant progress. Projects such as the North Yangtze River High-Speed Railway, Ningyang Intercity Railway, and Ningma Intercity Railway have successively completed important construction milestones, injecting strong momentum into regional traffic integration and the development of a ‘railway-based metropolitan area.’
North Yangtze River High-Speed Railway Yangzhou Section
The key project of the North Yangtze River High-Speed Railway’s Yangzhou section has been successfully concluded, with accelerated beam installation work. On the evening of May 31st, the Yizheng North Beam Yard of the North Yangtze River High-Speed Railway’s Yangzhou section completed the prefabrication of 826 simple-span box girders, laying a solid foundation for subsequent beam installation and track-laying construction.
This beam yard is located in Yizheng Yue Town, covering an area of 188 acres, equipped with 9 beam production platforms and 52 double-layer storage platforms. At its peak, it can produce 3 beams per day. The North Yangtze River High-Speed Railway is designed for a speed of 350 kilometers per hour and, upon completion, will connect cities such as Shanghai, Nanjing, and Hefei, accelerating the integration of the Yangtze River Delta urban cluster. The Wan Nian Road Station of the Ningyang Intercity Rail (Phase One) in Yangzhou has successfully completed the excavation of the main structure pit, laying the foundation for subsequent main structure construction and tunnel boring machine launch. This excavation involved transporting 140,000 cubic meters of soil, with the project team on 24-hour standby for monitoring.
Wannian Road Station is located at the intersection of Wannian South Road and Qianjin West Road. The station runs along Wannian South Road from north to south. The small mileage end is where the large shield machine was received, and the large mileage end is where the small shield machine started. This station is an underground three-level side platform station with a single-column double-span box-type frame structure. It has a total length of 186.6 meters and a standard width of 32.4 meters. There are four exits, two groups of ventilation shafts, and one non-paid area passage. It will accelerate the formation of the ‘half-hour commuting circle’ for Ningyang urbanization.
Ningma Intercity Railway (Ma’anshan Section)
On June 3rd, the construction of the Ningma Intercity Railway (Ma’anshan Section) entered its final stage. The main structure of the stations, bridge engineering, tunnel engineering, roadbed engineering, and track engineering have all been completed. Eight stations are currently advancing with mechanical and electrical installation and interior decoration, aiming to complete the finishing touches by June. The Dangtu South Vehicle Depot has already received the first electric train, with four electric trains currently on site. By the end of the year, 24 electric trains will be fully delivered.
As the top priority project in Ma’anshan, this line, once completed, will enable half-hour connectivity between Nanjing and the urban area of Ma’anshan, facilitating the creation of a ‘one-day living circle’ within the Nanjing metropolitan area. According to the plan, the project will start trial operation in October and be ready for traffic by December, at which point it will become an important artery for cross-provincial commuting between Nanjing and Ma’anshan.
Nanjing-Huaian Intercity Railway Station
The last cast-in-place trough beam of the sixth section before the Nanjing-Huaian Intercity Railway Station has been successfully completed, marking an acceleration in the construction progress of the Nanjing section.
The Ning-Huai intercity railway, spanning 179 kilometers with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, is a key line in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration’s intercity railway network in Jiangsu Province. Upon completion, it will enable direct travel between Nanjing and Huai’an within one hour, significantly enhancing the regional transportation network structure and promoting integrated development in the area.
