Young friends may not know that during the same period, on the north bank of the river, there was also a passionate and fiery time because of two universities.
The Pukou Campus of Nanjing University and the Pukou Campus of Southeast University, which are only two bus stops apart, have cultivated a large number of outstanding talents in the 20 years since the turn of the century, creating an important original concentration of population and industry for the transformation and development of Jiangbei.
Today, 20 years later, while the splendor of Jinling on the south bank still shines brightly, the youthful vitality of the north bank has already surged at the center of the stage. Nanjing University and Southeast University, two neighbors, have once again gathered at the foot of Longwang Mountain as the construction of the new main urban area progresses.
Nanjing University will jointly promote the construction of its campus with Jiangbei New Area. It will not only encourage the collective settlement of the biochemical and pharmaceutical discipline cluster in the new area, but also jointly build several high-level scientific research and innovation platforms.
The Modern Industry Innovation Center, which is just across the street from the Pukou Campus of Nanjing University, is also the location of the National University Biomedical Technology Transfer and Transformation Center. In another week, Building 6 will welcome the first batch of teachers and students from the “Medical College” of Southeast University.

There is no doubt that the strong basic scientific research strength is the solid confidence for Nanjing to stand out in the urban competition. In the next five years, nearly ten thousand teachers from the three “Double First-Class” universities (and the upcoming China Pharmaceutical University) will grow up and strive here. Four listed companies, namely Jiecui Yaokang, Yaoshi Technology and Yaojie Ankang, all bear the label of “Nanjing University Group”.
