On September 24th, the 4th (2025) Petroleum and Petrochemical Industry Exhibition and Yipaike Industrial Products Exhibition, which lasted for three days, opened at the Nanjing International Expo Center of Hexi Group. This exhibition, themed “Innovation, Openness, Green and Intelligence”, covers an area of 70,000 square meters and gathers over 500 leading enterprises in the industry, showcasing a batch of the latest domestic technologies and equipment in the petroleum and petrochemical fields.
At the exhibition, the reporter saw
As the host and an important participant
The “Nanjing Army” with a complete industrial chain
It is achieving a series of breakthrough results
Demonstrate its hard-core strength in the national energy and chemical industry landscape
Strive to get “oil”

Seek oil and gas from the extremely cold deep sea
Steel “backbone” supports energy security
The sea breeze howled, carrying salty and damp water vapor. The surging sea water met the sea of clouds at the skyline. In such an environment, drilling platforms carrying a large number of heavy equipment not only have to be as stable as a mountain at sea, but also have to go deep into the seabed thousands of meters deep to brave waves and break through the soil, “searching for treasures in the dragon palace”, extracting the “industrial blood” of oil in the vast ocean.
Where does the confidence lie in advancing into the deep sea?
The ultra-high strength Marine engineering steel we have developed has a maximum thickness of 210mm. Even in an extremely cold environment of minus 162 degrees Celsius, it still maintains excellent toughness. The yield strength of the steel can reach up to 690 megapascals, capable of withstanding hurricanes of force 15 or above. At the booth of Nanjing Iron and Steel Group, Zhou Guicheng, the general manager of the Steel Plate Division of Nanjing Iron and Steel Group, introduced.

After oil and gas extraction, transportation becomes crucial.
On the display board on one side of the booth, there are photos of the China-Russia Eastern Route Project. In the picture, one black pipe after another “climbs” over the thick snow and stretches into the distance. In the China-Russia Eastern Route project, we supplied X70 and X80 pipeline plates for the northern section from Heihe to Changling, the middle section from Changling to Yongqing, the southern section from Tai ‘an to Taixing, the Nantong-Luzhi section (the first batch of steel pipes), and the LNG supporting gas transmission pipeline project in Jiangsu Binhai, achieving full supply of pipeline steel from Nanjing Iron and Steel along the China-Russia Eastern Route.” Zhou Guicheng told the reporter that the oil and gas extracted from the strata have complex components and high pressure, and conventional pipe steel materials cannot meet the production needs. Nanjing Iron and Steel’s pipeline steel is “tailor-made”. The steel grade has been developed from B grade to the “ceiling” X120 grade, and has been applied in engineering to X80 grade. Various varieties such as hydrogen sulfide corrosion-resistant pipelines, deep-sea pipelines, and high-steel grade pipelines have been “supplied with steel” in major oil and gas projects at home and abroad.
Beside the oil and gas pipeline, there is a big, round white tank, which is very cute. “Despite its’ cute ‘appearance, this model can actually reach a volume of hundreds of thousands of cubic meters.” ” Zhou Guicheng said with a smile.

Energy companies usually liquefy natural gas and compress its volume to 1/625 of its original size. The temperature for natural gas liquefaction and liquid storage needs to be as low as -162℃. The lower the temperature, the lower the toughness and strength of steel will be. We added a certain proportion of nickel to steel and, through a special process, smelted ‘9-nickel steel’. It still has good performance at -196℃ and is widely used in the construction of liquefied natural gas storage tanks and transport ships. Zhou Guicheng said that Nanjing Iron and Steel’s “9-nickel steel” has held the top market share for 12 consecutive years, and its products have been applied in the LNG project of liquefied natural gas storage tanks.
From “a drop of oil” to “a piece of clothing”
Intelligent equipment empowers the extension of the industrial chain
The oil that has been painstakingly extracted
How can it become a daily necessity?
At Sinopec Yingke Information Technology Co., LTD., Xu Haitao, the director of intelligent hardware solutions, demonstrated to the reporter the “one-click detection” process of the fully automatic gasoline octane number tester. This equipment will be put into use at Jinling Petrochemical in October, significantly enhancing the safety and efficiency of detection.
Traditional manual detection not only has low efficiency, but also poses health risks to the operators who are exposed to the volatile gasoline environment for a long time. In the past, when conducting an octane number test, the laboratory technician had to turn the handwheel like an experienced driver, keep a close eye on the instrument, time the clock, and do the arithmetic manually. They couldn’t leave their post and were extremely tense. Product Manager Zhang Yaoyang pointed at the equipment and introduced that now, as long as the oil sample is poured into the oil cup and the start button is clicked, all subsequent operations will be completed automatically, achieving “separation of people and oil, and automatic operation”, significantly enhancing safety and work efficiency.
All the test data is uploaded in real time. Every drop of gasoline leaving the factory has a “digital ID card”, eliminating problems such as inconsistent grades and quality fluctuations from the source. He said.
Oil can not only “run” on the road
It can also be “worn” on the body
The main fabrics for making swimsuits – synthetic fibers such as nylon, polyester and spandex – all come from petroleum. Petrochemical enterprises produce polymer raw materials. Through our equipment, high-molecular compounds are “spun” into “threads”, processed into synthetic fibers, and eventually transformed into consumer goods such as swimsuits and yoga wear. Ma Ruichao, the sales manager of the company, said that in the past, such high-end equipment was long monopolized by enterprises from Europe, America and other places, with high prices, which restricted the development of China’s new materials industry. “Now, our equipment has not only achieved domestic substitution, but also the cost is only one fifth or even one tenth of similar foreign products.”
Nanjing is becoming an increasingly important “technical partner” in the global field of new chemical materials. This Iranian client has been cooperating with us for twelve years and has purchased over ten production lines. Ma Ruichao pointed at the foreign businessman who was negotiating and said. It is learned that currently, 30% of the company’s products are exported to regions such as the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
The green transformation is in progress
“Carbon Catcher” contributes to a low-carbon future
The oil and gas industry is both a major producer and consumer of energy. Achieving energy conservation and carbon reduction through technological breakthroughs has become a key path. At the booth of Sinopec Nanhua Company, the carbon dioxide capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technology attracted much attention.
