Above the section of the Hu-Shan Expressway passing through Huasiguan Village in Yongning Subdistrict, a concrete “long dragon” is taking shape. This is the construction site of the sixth section of the Nanjing North Station.
With the successful completion of the full bridge closure of the six-lane continuous beam over-crossing the Hu-Shan Expressway on the Nanjing Special Bridge, this new hub in the Yangtze River Delta is continuously refreshing the construction “progress bar” at a visible speed.

The Nanjing North Railway Station is divided into three major parts: the station front, the station building, and the station rear. Among them, the station front section mainly consists of the Nanhuai Intercity Railway. It starts from Huai’an East Station in Huai’an City, passes through Hongze District, Jinhu County, Tianchang City in Anhui Province, and Nanhu District in Nanjing City, and ends at Nanjing North Station.
After its completion and operation, Nanjing and Huai’an will be able to achieve a 1-hour direct high-speed rail connection. This is of great significance for improving the regional intercity rail transit network and promoting the coordinated and sustainable development of the economic areas along the Jiangsu-Anhui line.

Entering the construction site of the front section of the station, a series of piers and abutments shaped like “arcades” stand out prominently, attracting much attention. The Nanjing Special Bridge, which is under construction, is an important railway bridge project for the Nanjing North Station. In the future, six high-speed railway lines will converge here and be connected to the Nanjing North Station hub.

In terms of the design of the beam structure, the project adopted an innovative scheme of “single box with two chambers and variable cross-section”. The beam resembles a sturdy box with internal partitions, significantly enhancing its torsional resistance and lateral load-bearing capacity. The transverse partitions set at key positions act like “structural joints” of the bridge, not only strengthening the overall stability but also providing sufficient space for later maintenance and repair, thus achieving a dual guarantee of practicality and durability.

At present, the construction of Nanjing North Railway Station has achieved multiple breakthroughs: the pile foundation construction of the main station building has been fully completed, and the building’s main structure has reached the “zero level” target; the underground structure has been fully completed, and the exit level, track support level, and elevated level are all progressing smoothly. The structures of the subway and expressway, as well as the basement structure of the station building, have all been completed.
Nanjing North Railway Station is expected to be completed and put into use simultaneously with the North Corridor High-Speed Railway in October 2027. At that time, the “two rings and four spans” radial railway hub will further “complete the circle”, and the key “piece” of Nanjing’s “M” shape high-speed railway network will be completed, forming a new pattern of linkage with Nanjing South Railway Station and Nanjing Railway Station, and strongly promoting regional economic development and the process of the Yangtze River Delta integration.
