Recently, an “ice-breaking operation” in the field of computing power was completed in Nanjing. Muxi, a company based in Nanjing Pukou Economic Development Zone, officially released its first domestically produced general-purpose GPU – Xiyun C600

Knowledge points
Computing power is the core production factor in the era of artificial intelligence. As a key component determining the level of computing power, the performance of GPU chips not only influences the ability of AI model training and inference, but also serves as the foundation of the future economy.
Currently, NVIDIA and AMD remain the market leaders in the general-purpose GPU sector. Just recently, these two enterprises have successively reached cooperation agreements worth hundreds of billions of dollars with OPENAI, attempting to build an “AI empire” through a monopoly on computing power.
Against the backdrop of computing power becoming the “hard currency” of the digital economy, general-purpose GPU chips will be the ultimate battle between countries. In the view of Sun Guoliang, senior vice president of Muxi Co., LTD., this battle for computing power not only concerns the stability of the artificial intelligence industry chain and supply chain, but also serves as the core cornerstone for promoting technological progress and future development of the entire industry. It is precisely with such an original aspiration that when Muxi was founded five years ago, it focused on the breakthrough challenges in the GPU field, making efforts from both hardware and software dimensions, striving to overcome the core technologies of computing power, and building a secure, reliable, and independently controllable computing power infrastructure.
What are the outstanding features of the Xiyun C600?
This fully localized chip integrates large-capacity storage and multi-precision hybrid computing power, and supports MetaXLink super-node expansion technology. It fully meets the training and inference requirements of the next-generation generative AI in terms of hardware performance and software compatibility.
At present, the domestic 1,000-card cluster jointly developed by Muxi Co., Ltd. and the Chinese Academy of Sciences has completed the full-parameter training of multiple large models, confirming that domestic computing power has the ability to pre-train large models.

The most distinctive feature of the Xiyun C600 is its full domestic production process 👇
Among them, the greatest challenge comes from the self-research and development of all core ips. Facing the technological choke point from the leading players in Europe and America, Muxi Co., LTD., relying on its accumulation in the GPU chip field and understanding of application scenarios, independently designed dozens of core ips. The manufacturing and packaging and testing ends are all completed by domestic enterprises. On the application end, a “1+6+X” strategic map has been established – with self-developed Gpus as the foundation, deeply empowering six major industries including finance, healthcare, energy, education and research, transportation, and large-scale cultural and entertainment, and promoting the implementation of X emerging scenarios.
Why did Muxi Co., Ltd. choose to publicly release the Xiyun C600 in Nanjing?
Nanjing Company is the first wholly-owned subsidiary established by Muxi Co., Ltd. and is responsible for the research and development of the full range of chips. Wang Shuang, the person in charge of Muxi (Nanjing), said that the Nanjing team of nearly a hundred people is the “most powerful brain” of the enterprise. It is precisely because of their continuous breakthroughs on the road of innovation that Muxi Co., Ltd. has been able to rank among the “Four Little Dragons of Domestic Gpus” in just five years.

Choosing Nanjing is a “mutual pursuit” based on industry and ecology. Integrated circuits and artificial intelligence are emerging industries that Nanjing is focusing on developing. However, the shortcomings in the design process and the demand for computing power chips need to be urgently addressed. Nanjing has a relatively complete industrial layout, a talent reserve that ranks first in the country, and it also has top-notch domestic research and development platforms, making it fertile ground for manufacturing “Chinese chips”.
A fine bird chooses a good tree to perch on. In September 2020, Mr. Chen Weiliang, a technical expert who once worked at AMD, founded Muxi. Just one month later, the enterprise established its first wholly-owned subsidiary in Pukou Economic Development Zone to participate in the research and development of the entire range of products. From the Xisi N series to the Xiyun C series and then to the Xicai G series, all of Muxi’s products are infused with the “Nanjing gene”.

At present, Pukou Economic Development Zone has gathered over 300 upstream and downstream enterprises in the integrated circuit industry, forming a complete industrial chain ecosystem covering IC design, wafer manufacturing, packaging and testing, and material support. The close interaction between upstream and downstream enterprises and the efficient integration of various resource elements not only fill the gap in Nanjing’s industrial development, but also become the key to promoting the regional integrated circuit industry to achieve a dual improvement in scale and quality and efficiency, and also confirm the success of this “mutual pursuit”.
💪💪💪 Pukou will continue to deeply advance the “Four Major Actions”, further strengthen, supplement and extend the industrial chain, accelerate the integration of the industrial chain with the innovation chain and the talent chain, and strive to contribute more Nanjing strength to the development of “Chinese chips”
