A Series of Projects were Signed On-site

A Win-win Agreement of Mutual Pursuit.

Friends traveled far to meet, and Nanjing opened up new spaces for cooperation with sincerity. From making appointments and getting acquainted, to meeting and joining hands, the fair has always been an important “golden card” for Nanjing’s investment attraction. At this year’s opening ceremony, a number of major projects were signed on-site.

Among them were both increased investments by old friends and the outstretched hands of trust from new partners for the first time. The handshake of each project highlighted the confidence of enterprises and capital in the development of Nanjing.

“During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, we have invested more than RMB 2 billion, not only consolidating our global leading position in industries such as insulators and bushings but also developing and expanding new materials, new energy, new types of energy storage, and intelligent electric power equipment industries. In the next three years, we will accelerate our presence in Nanjing, planning to invest more than RMB 3 billion, said Hu Deliang, Chairman and General Manager of Baiyun Power Group Co., Ltd. (BPG), expressing his optimistic view of Nanjing through substantial project investment plans.

BPG is a leading enterprise in China’s electric power equipment industry and a practitioner and leader of green smart energy. It currently has 17 production bases in 14 cities and has established a “Guangzhou + Nanjing” dual headquarters. Hu Deliang stated that BPG will accelerate its presence in Nanjing, further expand its existing businesses, promote the rapid introduction and development of new businesses, and establish a national-level innovation platform for BPG Central Research Institute to achieve coupled development of manufacturing and technological innovation, aiding Nanjing in realizing a new type of electric power “double hundred billion” industrial cluster.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Valeo entering the Chinese market. Over these three decades, Valeo has continuously invested in China, expanded its scale, and strengthened local R&D and innovation capabilities, achieving the transformation from “Made in China” to “Created in China”. One-third of the new cars launched globally every year are equipped with Valeo’s electrification solutions.

Corporate representatives spoke.

As early as 1997, Valeo established a clutch company in Nanjing. This year, it also established Valeo Powertrain (Nanjing) Co., Ltd., making Nanjing the headquarters for Valeo’s powertrain in China. Zhou Song, president of Valeo China, was invited to the meeting, where he also expressed optimism about Nanjing, “Nanjing is an important base for Valeo’s development of electrification business. With the establishment of Valeo Powertrain China Headquarters, we will accelerate the development of electrification and expand more and better businesses on this fertile land of Nanjing.”02

Continue to Improve Global Economic and Trade Networks

An Open Agreement to Connect the World.

Opening up is the underlying theme of our time. Today, Nanjing is riding on the momentum of opening up, embracing the domestic and international circulations and deepening international economic cooperation. At the event, officials announced the city’s global economic and trade network and the first batch of “Global Digital Service Providers”, further strengthening the “economic circle” and expanding the “circle of friends”.

The Nanjing International Sister Cities Exhibition Hall showcased the worldwide exchanges with Nanjing’s sister cities.

Till this day, Nanjing has carried out trade cooperation with more than 200 countries and regions in the world, with overseas investments distributed in over 90 countries and regions. It has attracted foreign investors from more than 130 countries and regions, including 113 Fortune 500 companies, and has paired with 106 cities from 58 countries.

Nanjing has entered into economic and trade cooperation partnerships with 26 overseas economic and trade institutions, and has initially formed an economic and trade network covering major developed economies, emerging markets, and countries and regions participating in the construction of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, which is “vertically connected”, “horizontally connected”, and “woven into a network”.

Since his appointment last year, Kim Young-jun, the consul general of South Korea in Shanghai, has visited Nanjing multiple times. On September 24, he once again came to Nanjing for this autumn engagement that links and interacts with the world.

“Nanjing is not only rich in cultural resources, has a livable ecological environment, a comprehensive transportation network, and an excellent talent pool, but it also boasts a business environment conducive to rapid industrial development,” said Kim Young-jun. In his eyes, Nanjing is both a classical and elegant city and a modern and innovative one. He mentioned that in the cooperation and development between South Korea and China, the exchanges and cooperation between South Korea and Jiangsu have always been regarded as highly representative models, with Nanjing making a significant contribution.” The Consul General of South Korea in Shanghai will continue to make every effort to strengthen economic, trade, cultural, and other multifaceted exchanges and cooperation between South Korea and Nanjing to achieve mutual prosperity,” said Kim Young-jun.

It was proposed at the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee that opening up is a distinctive feature of Chinese modernization. Nanjing will enhance its ability to open up while expanding international cooperation to build a new open economy system with a higher level. In the future, Nanjing will actively integrate into the national opening-up strategy, enhance its opening-up capabilities in expanding international cooperation, and further strengthen the global economic and trade network.

Going forward, the city aims to implement the “Key Country Plan” and continuously expand the “circle of friends” for international economic and trade cooperation. By 2025, the number of “global economic and trade cooperation partners” will reach 50.

Moreover, the city intends to deliver results on the “Trade Promotion Plan”, so as to deepen traditional markets such as Europe, the United States, Japan and South Korea, expand emerging markets such as the Middle East, Latin America and Africa, and support enterprises to participate in more than 100 key overseas economic and trade exhibitions each year.

Also, the city will initiate the “Transnational Cooperation Plan”. Nanjing will carry out the “Visiting Headquarters of Multinational Corporations Action” and “International Economic and Trade Cooperation Partners Visiting Nanjing” series activities, to attract more high-quality foreign investment to deeply participate in the city’s industrial development, and release strong momentum.

The city is set to implement the “Digital Empowerment Plan”. Nanjing will capitalize on national policy incentives that promote greater openness in the service sector and a flourishing digital trade industry, so as to continuously enhance the connection between international resources and factors, and to create an open, innovative and internationalized “Nanjing Service” name card.

At the event, officials unveiled Nanjing’s first batch of “Global Digital Service Providers”, and the Nanjing Global Digital Service Provider Alliance was also established simultaneously. These digital sector partners will join Nanjing in focusing on five major types: digital technology, digital products, digital services, cross-border e-commerce, and sharing centers. They will continue to explore institutional opening paths, driving more innovative cooperation models and high-quality projects to take root here.

Experts and Scholars Offered Advice and Discussed Open Development.

A Forward-looking Engagement for “Dialogue with the Future”.

The Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee made scientific plans and systematic arrangements for further deepening reform, expanding openness, and promoting high-quality economic development.

“This Nanjing Golden Autumn Economic and Trade Fair is a concrete action to implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee,” said Bi Jingquan, a member of the Standing Committee of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, deputy director of the Economic Committee, and chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, who came to Nanjing specifically for the event to discuss “open development”.

He stated that Nanjing boasts a profound cultural heritage, rich science and education resources, solid industrial foundations, and a strong momentum for opening up, positioning it as a pioneer in leading and setting examples for China’s economic and social development. He sincerely hoped that Nanjing would continue to lead and set an example in establishing a high-level market economy system; encourage innovation and promote the development of new productive forces; and establish a high-level open system.

Currently, Nanjing is actively seizing opportunities, focusing on serving and constructing a bidirectional open hub with global aggregation capabilities, and promoting a high level of openness to the outside world.

At the plenary session, Gu Xueming, a member of the 14th CPPCC National Committee and dean of the Institute of Openness and Innovation Development, Shenzhen University, delivered a keynote speech on “Advancing High-Level Opening Up to Gather New Momentum for Development”. He said that Nanjing is full of vitality and potential, offering a livable and business-friendly environment with limitless opportunities. Offering a broad space and a good environment, Nanjing will undoubtedly become a stage for entrepreneurs to achieve their careers and dreams.

Gu Xueming offered three reflections on how Nanjing can further advance high-level opening up and gather new momentum for development. First, to unleash the potential of an ultra-large scale market through high-level openness; second, to stimulate the vitality of new models and formats through high-level openness; and third, to enhance the driving force of international economic and trade cooperation through high-level openness.

Currently, Nanjing is accelerating the advancement of new industrialization and vigorously promoting the building of a strong industrial city, focusing on building a modern industrial system.

During the keynote speech session, Li Ling, president of CBRE China, addressed Moving Towards “New” and Advancing in “Quality”—Accelerating the Building of a Modern Industrial System in Nanjing, providing insights into the industrial development of Nanjing. He mentioned that Nanjing possesses two core competitive strengths: a timeless foundation in science and innovation and a forward-looking industrial system that keeps pace with the times. These will provide dual drivers for the high-quality economic development and transition of Nanjing.

Seeking depth from accelerated innovation, height from intensive efficiency, and breadth from scenario-based ecology on CBRE’s long-term industrial practice and urban observation, Li Ling suggested that Nanjing should accelerate the cross-integration and mutual catalysis of these two advantages from three dimensions. He also recommended that Nanjing continue to expand its openness in urban governance and public services around the “4266” industrial system, pushing forward the opening up and development of future cities and spaces, and accelerating the building of application scenarios for innovative industries such as artificial intelligence, big data, low-altitude aviation, dual carbon goals, and cross-border e-commerce.

As the fair brings us together, the future has already arrived. We look forward to fostering relationships and seeking cooperation with all partners of Nanjing on this international open platform, working together to create a better future.
