Nanjing car conquers the world

The latest statistics show that the added value of Nanjing’s automobile manufacturing industry increased by 29.3% year-on-year in April, driven by the export of new energy and new models.
With the whistle of the ocean giant, new energy vehicles, which are soaring in the domestic market, are now accelerating the development of the global market. In this round of “going to sea” wave, “Nanjing Intelligent Manufacturing” takes innovation as the oar and cooperation as the sail, and successfully opens up new growth space in the challenging “deep water area”.

A “European car” rolls off the assembly line in 102 seconds

Walking into the smart factory of Nanjing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Nanjing Changan”), it is like being in the industrial world of the future. AGV intelligent cars shuttle efficiently along the established track, and the steering wheel, tires, seats and other parts are precisely connected like precision puzzles. Here, on average, every 102 seconds, a brand new car is assembled and rolls off the production line.

According to the sales report released by Changan Automobile, the company’s retail sales of new energy vehicles in April were 71,349, a year-on-year increase of 46.7%. Among them, Deep Blue Automobile delivered 20,138 vehicles in the month, a year-on-year increase of 58%. It is worth noting that about 25% of the total deliveries of Deep Blue Automobile are Deep Blue S07 manufactured at Nanjing Chang’an production base.
This star model not only continues to sell well in the domestic market, but also successfully breaks into Europe, the base camp of traditional car companies around the world. On April 21, the first batch of 140 units of the European version of the dark blue S07 rolled off the assembly line in Nanjing, this batch of models specially built for the European market has been shipped in May, after 45 days and nights of sailing, arrived in the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway.

“The European market access system is strict, and the development of the European version of the dark blue S07 is equivalent to participating in a rigorous examination, from the preliminary research to the European vehicle type certification (WVTA), and then to the Euro NCAP safety test five-star safety certification, it took nearly 2 years, and finally successfully launched in Europe with excellent quality.” The person in charge of the dark blue S07 overseas project revealed. It is understood that at present, Deep Blue S07 has been sold to more than 50 countries and regions around the world, and the total export volume is expected to be nearly 50,000 units this year.
At the same time, another “Nanjing Intelligent Manufacturing” has also started a European journey. On the morning of April 22, the first batch of pure electric flagship sedans sent to Europe by Changan Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Changan Mazda”) set sail on the morning of April 22. The vehicles arrived at the Belgian port in May and will be delivered to dealers in Europe this summer.
As Mazda’s only new energy production base in China, the MAZDA 6e produced at the Nanjing plant is a “Chinese car” and a “global car” with the wisdom and strength of engineers from Changan Mazda’s Nanjing R&D Center, Mazda’s Hiroshima headquarters in Japan, and Mazda’s European R&D center.
Changan Mazda, which has been rooted in Nanjing for 20 years, is embracing the new energy era with a new attitude. Following the company’s announcement of a comprehensive transformation of the new energy market in 2023, in April this year, the company released the “Double Hundred” strategic plan: investing more than 10 billion yuan in new energy-related businesses, exporting more than 10 billion yuan in foreign trade, doubling the output value, and accelerating the gallop on the global new energy vehicle track.

Selling trams in the Middle East, which is “not bad for oil”.

While exploring new markets, the cooperation between Nanjing new energy vehicle companies and “old friends” has also continued to deepen. On May 23, Wang Wanyu, deputy general manager of Nanjing Hengtian Lingrui Automobile Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Hengtian Lingrui”), led a delegation to South Korea to discuss technology trends and cooperation prospects with Korean customers again, and also presented a special souvenir to the Korean side – a jade plate engraved with the corporate logos of both sides and a gilded grip pattern as the core. “The jade plate means a win-win situation, and this jade plate is not only a testimony of our four years of being in the same boat, but also the key to the future.” Wang Wanyu said emotionally.
With the steady progress of the South Korean government’s “carbon neutrality” goal and the acceleration of the green transformation of urban public transportation, the demand for new energy buses has shown a continuous growth trend. At present, the number of buses operating in the Korean market has exceeded 700, and these vehicles have become a green landscape on the streets of South Korea with their fashionable appearance, spacious space and excellent performance.

In the Middle East market, which is “not bad oil”, Skyworth Automobile also writes the story of “counterattack” of new energy vehicles. The Middle East has special geographical and climatic conditions, and how to improve the performance of automotive batteries, build charging networks, and cope with extreme weather are all facing huge challenges for car companies. Relying on the advantages of intelligent networking, high-temperature adaptive battery technology and the synergy of the whole industry chain, Skyworth Auto has in-depth cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and other countries to help the brand share continue to rise with the two-wheel drive model of “technology + industry”.

Skyworth Automobile’s innovative marketing model has also been talked about by locals. Skyworth TV has a fairly high market share in the Middle East,In Dubai’s large home appliance store,Skyworth has set up a car display area,Consumers can directly experience car products when they buy TV,Realize”Household appliances and cars”Collaborative sales。

Fighting the waves of the “Red Sea” opens up a new shipping lane

The road to “going to sea” has both the scenery of blue waves and the risk of undercurrents. When Nanjing car companies set sail, they faced not only the geographical separation of mountains and seas, but also the turbulent waves of market competition.
“When we first entered the overseas market, there were opportunities everywhere,” he says. Industry insiders admit that as global car companies accelerate the transformation to new energy, local car companies are also rapidly increasing in overseas markets, and the once vast “blue ocean” is evolving into a fiercely competitive “red ocean”. Coupled with the uncertainty of the international trade environment, some countries also have different forms of automobile trade protection policies, which adds headwinds to the road to the sea.
For this reason, the new forces chose to “change lanes and overtake”. Recently, an ocean-going freighter loaded with 64 second-hand cars slowly sailed out of Nansha Port in Guangzhou, crossed the vast South Sea, and sailed to the destination of this trip – Eastern Europe. After 45 days, these used cars will be delivered to users after customs clearance and transshipment.
