On February 14, Nanjing and Zaragoza, Spain, signed a Letter of Intent to establish a sister city relationship. Chen Zhichang, Mayor of Nanjing,welcomed Mayor of Zaragoza Natalia Chueca Muñoz and her delegation.
萨拉戈萨是西班牙阿拉贡自治区首府,交通运输网络发达,历史文化资源丰富,汽车、物流等产业蓬勃发展。我市与萨拉戈萨市的友好交往始于2017年南京工业大学和萨拉戈萨大学共建孔子学院。近年来,通过文化、教育等领域的交流与合作,双方建立起稳固交往和良好友谊。Zaragoza is the capital city of Spain’s Aragon Autonomous Community. It’s renowned for its robust transportation network, rich historical and cultural heritage, and dynamic automotive and logistics industries. Two cities’ friendly ties began in 2017 with the joint establishment of a Confucius Institute by Nanjing Tech University and the University of Zaragoza. Since then, cultural and educational exchanges have laid a solid foundation for a strong and enduring friendship between two cities.
会谈中,双方围绕加强经贸合作、拓展人文往来深入交流,一致认为,南京与萨拉戈萨资源禀赋相近、产业优势互补,在经贸、文旅、教育、科技等领域合作潜力巨大。今年正值中西建立全面战略伙伴关系20周年,双方将以此次签约为契机,以友好往来促进民心相通,以经贸合作推动共同发展,以文化互鉴增进两地友谊,在双向奔赴中实现互利共赢。
During the meeting, the mayors engaged in in-depth discussions on enhancing economic and trade cooperation and expanding people-to-people bonds. They recognized that Nanjing and Zaragoza share similar resource endowments and complementary industrial strengths, offering vast potential for collaboration in economic and trade, culture and tourism, education, and science and technology. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Spain. Nanjing and Zaragoza aim to leverage this signing to deepen mutual understanding through friendly exchanges, advance common development through economic cooperation, and strengthen ties through cultural engagement, ultimately achieving mutually beneficial and win-win outcomes.
