With the rise of domestic new energy vehicles, laser welding has also become a popular track – in the welding of body, gear and power battery, compared with traditional electric welding and gas welding, laser welding not only has high precision and quality, but also helps enterprises save energy and reduce emissions. At present, major automobile factories are turning to laser welding, and the demand for high-power fiber lasers is also “rising”.

High-power fiber lasers “bind” light in optical fibers to continuously generate energy, and the higher the output power, the higher the quality and speed of welding. For such a key equipment, the domestic high-power fiber laser market in the field of high-end welding is still dominated by overseas products.

“Stability is a common problem faced by domestic manufacturers.” Wang Haijun, chairman of Aoyi Technology, said that in some precision manufacturing fields, the requirements for laser power are very accurate, but the optical fiber is only the thickness of a hair, when the energy is about equal to 4-5 electric ovens accumulated, how to ensure stable output? This is the problem, but it is also the key.

To this end, Wang Haijun’s team made up their minds to start a business. During his university years, he worked as a researcher at the Key Laboratory of Advanced Solid-State Lasers of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, and joined Huawei after graduation. When this “old Jianghu”, who has been in the laser field for more than 20 years, came to Jiangbei New Area, he said: “What we want to do is to help domestic laser manufacturers to achieve high power and stability.” ”

How to balance high power and stability?

Aiming at the core components in the laser, Aoyi Technology has launched two products: high-power fiber grating and dual-channel time-sharing high-power ring laser shutter. The jargon is obscure, and Wang Haijun is more accustomed to calling them two vivid metaphors – “firewall” and “router”.

“The higher the output power of the laser, the more likely the light is to deviate in the process of ‘vibrating’, resulting in a large amount of stray light, which affects stability.” Wang Haijun introduced that the high-power fiber grating launched by the team is to set up a “firewall” in the laser to filter and purify these stray lights.

Let the useful light pass through and block the useless light. Such a small “firewall” requires the use of micro-nano technology to engrave tens of thousands of “small mirrors” on the inside of the hair-thick optical fiber, and the arrangement rules of the “small mirrors” must be designed according to specific algorithms and customer parameters in order to achieve the best match. It is precisely because of the many technical difficulties that this core component has always been difficult to localize.

It is worth mentioning that the stray light filtration efficiency of the high-power fiber grating of Aoyi Technology has reached 99.5%, which exceeds the overseas commercial index. Not only that, with the dual-channel time-sharing high-power ring laser shutter independently developed by the team, it can also transmit laser light energy to different channels like using a “router” to make full use of energy.

“It’s no exaggeration to say that we’ve challenged the industry’s top level of difficulty.” Wang Haijun said with a smile that many of the team’s core technologies have been internationally leading. Because the technology is independent and controllable, in the future, the price of the two products “firewall” and “router” will also be very friendly.

Capacity “Running”

With leading technology and friendly prices, it is not difficult to understand why this newly established company can gain the favor of many industry “bigwigs”. Wang Haijun said that recently, major domestic laser manufacturers have sent nearly 50 orders, in order to meet customer needs, the team urgently needs to make the production capacity “run”.

At the end of July, Aoyi Technology landed in the Optoelectronic Science and Technology Park of the New District. Here, they have laid out 600 square meters of ultra-clean rooms and supported the construction of 4 production lines. According to reports, when these four production lines are all operational, the monthly production capacity can reach 2,500 high-power fiber gratings. Imagine, when these core components enter the domestic laser manufacturers, it may bring the transformation and upgrading of the entire industry.

“I am looking forward to seeing the nationally produced laser welding system in our domestic new energy vehicle companies in the next few years.” Wang Haijun said.
