The headquarters will coordinate the accounting, tax, legal, logistics, procurement and other businesses of LG Energy Solution’s subsidiaries in China, manage cross-border capital pools, carry out research and development of new energy batteries and materials, and be responsible for upstream and downstream industrial chain investments.
“In the future, LG Energy Solution will rely on Nanjing’s high-quality resources and policy environment to further increase its investment in the Chinese market, continuously enhance its core competitiveness, and contribute more to the development of smart manufacturing and new energy industries in Nanjing and even China.” Choi Ji-woong, president of LG Energy Solution China, said, “The establishment of the China headquarters project indicates that LG Energy Solution is full of confidence and enthusiasm for its future development in China!”
From 1995 to now, LG Group has experienced a “snowball” development in Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone, with a total investment of more than US$8 billion, 10 enterprises and a total employment of nearly 30,000 people. With the coordinated development of more than 40 supporting enterprises, the total output value of LG industrial chain enterprises in Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone will exceed 130 billion yuan in 2023. Over the past three decades, the two sides have worked together for in-depth cooperation. LG Group has shared development opportunities relying on China’s industrial chain and supply chain system, promoted the co-prosperity and co-existence of foreign and domestic capital, and not only contributed to the growth and development of Nanjing’s first national-level economic and technological development zone, but also made Korean-funded enterprises take root in Nanjing.
At present, the company’s battery production line intelligentization project is being vigorously promoted in Nanjing Economic Development Zone. “LG Energy Solution’s ‘intelligent manufacturing’ is a stable production and operation system based on automation, informatization and intelligence driven by big data and artificial intelligence. We will realize informatization and digitalization in the whole life cycle management process from product design, production, logistics to sales, improve production efficiency, resource utilization and ensure product quality.” LG Energy Solution President Jin Dongming said in a video speech at the theme conference on the 20th.
During the conference, the LG New Energy booth attracted much attention with its full range of products. The full range of products including power batteries, energy storage batteries, and small batteries produced in Nanjing made their debut, presenting a visual feast full of technology to the audience.
At the power battery point, LG Energy Solution displayed the overall new energy vehicle solution including battery cells, modules, BMS and battery packs, which have been widely used in passenger cars and commercial vehicles; at the energy storage battery point, LG Energy Solution displayed many application scenarios of the company’s products in the fields of power grids, commercial residences, UPS equipment, etc.; at the small battery point, LG Energy Solution displayed 1865 and 2170 cylindrical battery solutions. LG Energy Solution’s unique soft pack structure, through patented stacking and folding technology, can achieve ultra-thin, high-capacity and multi-form design of batteries. Its products have been widely used in a variety of equipment such as light electric vehicles, power tools, robots, etc.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the cooperation between Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone and LG Energy Solution. From the groundbreaking of the first battery factory in 2004, to the establishment of the first power battery company in 2014, to the implementation of a series of major investment projects in recent years, LG Energy Solution has become the most representative foreign-funded enterprise in Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone and the backbone of the new energy industry. The Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee will take the implementation of the China Headquarters Project as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with LG Energy Solution in the fields of transformation and upgrading, technological innovation, industrial chain integration and market expansion, and work together to create a new energy industry highland with global competitiveness.
