The wave of artificial intelligence has arrived. How can technology empower artistic creation to tell more touching stories and achieve wider dissemination? An event focusing on artificial intelligence and digital art kicked off along the Yangtze River
On the morning of December 27th, the first national artificial Intelligence and Digital Art Innovation Action release event of “Digital Movement in Jiangbei Smart Painting New District” was held in Jiangbei New Area. Senior advisor of the China Animation Society and former vice minister of the National Radio and Television Administration, Le Yucheng, and President of the China Animation Society, Ma Li; Leaders from relevant departments such as the Cyberspace Administration of Jiangsu Province, the Provincial Radio and Television Bureau, the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Provincial Writers’ Association, the Provincial Radio and Television Station, the Provincial Culture and Science and Technology Group, and the Municipal Publicity Department; Yuan Chuanjun, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee of Jiangbei New Area, attended the event.
At present, artificial intelligence is profoundly reshaping the logic of content production and creation, injecting new impetus into the digital cultural industry. The new district continues to deeply cultivate new digital cultural tracks such as animation, short dramas and games, and strives to build an innovative source of integrated development of culture and technology.
The Yangtze River Digital Audio-Visual Industrial Park, which opened in September last year, has initially established an AIGC full industrial chain ecosystem covering technology research and development, content production and overseas distribution by building a science and technology innovation platform, attracting and cultivating leading enterprises and setting up an industrial fund.
In the park, there are not only technology platform enterprises such as Xuanjia Technology and Zhiying Culture, but also leading content production companies like Baichuan Short Drama, forming a virtuous cycle of “technology empowering creation and ecosystem nourishing enterprises”.
At this event, a series of solid industrial empowerment measures were successively released. The unveiling and establishment of the Nanjing Industry Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence Animation and the Industry-University-Research and Development Center for Artificial Intelligence Animation marks a new stage of substantive operation in the integration of industry, academia and research.
The Innovation Center will gather cutting-edge R&D resources and fully play the role of an engine that links cutting-edge technology with artistic creation and leads the upgrading of the regional digital cultural industry.
Talents are the core vitality of industrial development. The event presented appointment letters to the think tank experts of the Artificial Intelligence Creativity College. The Artificial Intelligence Creativity Academy is the first non-academic education and research platform in China that focuses on the deep integration of artificial intelligence and animation creativity. It is committed to creating a replicable and scalable high-quality platform sample for the cultivation of industry talents, and providing core impetus for the digital and intelligent transformation and international breakthrough of Chinese animation. The expert team of the think tank will provide intellectual support for the development of the college and industry innovation with their forward-looking vision and professional wisdom.
As Zhang Jie, the vice president of Nanjing University of the Arts, put it, “Universities are not only the users of technology, but also the proposers of methodology, the participants in the standard system and the promoters of ecological construction. We are willing to deepen cooperation with the China Animation Society, sister universities and leading enterprises in the industry with an open attitude, and build a stable and efficient collaborative mechanism.”
The establishment of the alliance will systematize and platformize the successful experiences of such enterprises, building a solid bridge for more emerging forces eager to go global, from “individual combat” to “group army going global”.
During the event, the China Animation Society, Nanjing University of the Arts and the Science and Technology Investment Group jointly launched the Artificial Intelligence Animation Creation Competition, aiming to promote innovation through the competition, stimulate the fresh vitality of the industry and attract more outstanding works and creative talents to emerge.
“Content is king” has always been the core of animation success. In the technological wave, human imagination and creativity are particularly crucial. We must promote the further deep integration of technology and art. Le Yucheng said.
The China Animation Society will make efforts in the deep integration of science and technology with art, the organic integration of industry with economic and social development, and the cross-border integration of industry, academia, research and application, to meet the spiritual and cultural needs of the people with better animation masterpieces and promote industrial upgrading. Ma Li said.
Based on creativity and technology, the thriving picture of “Animated Jiangbei” is right before our eyes. In the future, the new district will spare no effort to gather industrial resources, cultivate creative talents, continuously upgrade industrial policies, and serve the development of enterprises. It will focus on key points in technology, strengthen the industrial chain, and promote the formation of more brand ips with lasting vitality, making “Jiangbei Products” a bright business card for Chinese animation to go global.
