The industrial Internet is not only a key area that reflects the practical value of new quality productivity, but also a powerful force to promote the cultivation and formation of new quality productivity, which is of great significance to promoting high-quality economic development. On April 16, Nanjing’s “5G Industrial Internet” integrated application pilot city promotion meeting was successfully held, at which the Industrial Internet Industry Alliance released the country’s first “Industrial 5G Terminal Equipment Development Report”, and the relevant persons in charge of the Information and Communication Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Provincial Communications Administration, and the Nanjing Municipal Government jointly launched the “Nanjing City to promote the upgrading and development of the ‘5G Industrial Internet'” ceremony, and Nanjing officially opened a new stage of “5G Industrial Internet” development.
Since being selected as the first batch of pilot cities for the integration and application of “5G Industrial Internet” in China in 2024, Nanjing has accelerated the construction of pilot cities. Zheng Xiaoming, Deputy Secretary-General of the Municipal Government, pointed out in his speech that Nanjing’s “5G Industrial Internet” has the characteristics of strong infrastructure support, active industrial ecological development, strong innovation and leading ability and initial results in large-scale application, and has achieved a number of “first” achievements: ✔ the city has built a total of 45,000 5G base stations, with 47 5G base stations per 10,000 people, the first in the province; ✔ ✔ The shipment volume of domestic brand industrial robots has remained the first in China for five consecutive years; ✔ In cutting-edge fields such as future networks and 6G, its R&D capabilities are in a leading position in the industry, and it has created more than 10 “world firsts” for 6G terahertz real-time wireless transmission.
In December 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the upgraded implementation plan of the 512 project of “5G Industrial Internet”. As one of the first batch of pilot cities for the integrated application of the national “5G Industrial Internet”, Nanjing took the lead in issuing the “Implementation Plan for Promoting the Construction of Pilot Cities for the National “5G Industrial Internet” Convergence Application in Nanjing in January this year, deploying 19 specific measures in five aspects: upgrading network facilities, upgrading technical products, upgrading integrated applications, upgrading industrial ecology, and upgrading public services.
In the next step, Nanjing will take Jiangning District and Jiangbei New Area as the main core construction areas to promote the large-scale development of “5G Industrial Internet” applications; Build 100 5G virtual/hybrid private networks with high quality, and promote the R&D and industrialization of lightweight 5G core networks; Accelerate the integrated application of “5G Industrial Internet”, strive to cultivate 100 “5G Industrial Internet” integrated application projects, and build no less than 50 5G factories; Promote the research and development of all categories of 5G industrial robots, and create more than 10 5G industrial robots according to scenarios; Support industrial enterprises, basic telecommunications enterprises, scientific research institutions, etc. to build 5G integrated application innovation centers, joint laboratories, “5G Industrial Internet” pilot platforms and other innovative service carriers, and further strengthen the integrated development of innovation chains and industrial chains. The “Industrial 5G Terminal Equipment Development Report” was released for the first time to solve the pain points of the industry
At present, the “5G Industrial Internet” has entered a new stage of large-scale development and has become an important engine to promote the development of industrial digitalization and intelligence. As the core node connecting the 5G network and the industrial site, industrial 5G terminal equipment is a key part of the “5G Industrial Internet” industrial chain and has become the focus of the upgrading and development of the national “5G Industrial Internet” 512 project.
At the conference, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, together with ZTE, Nanjing Unicom, Nanjing Estun and other industrial enterprises, jointly released the “Industrial 5G Terminal Equipment Development Report” (hereinafter referred to as the “Report”). The report details the application progress, technical system and development trend of industrial 5G terminal equipment, and provides reference and guidance for the development of the industry.
For industrial 5G terminal equipment, which mainly faces pain points such as many application scenarios, high R&D costs, and breakthroughs in industrial adaptation, the report recommends strengthening the connection between supply and demand, and promoting the R&D of industrial 5G terminal equipment by category; Accelerate the application of 5G Redcap technology in industrial 5G terminal equipment, driving down R&D costs; Accelerate the research of key technologies and strengthen the integration of 5G and industrial terminal equipment. In the future, the categories and forms of industrial 5G terminal equipment will be more diverse, the integration depth of 5G and industrial terminal equipment will continue to deepen, and industrial 5G terminal equipment will become more intelligent and gradually develop to the cloud. In order to further cultivate and expand the industrial ecology and serve the large-scale development of the “5G industrial Internet” industry, Nanjing launched the first batch of industrial 5G terminal equipment products at the meeting site, namely the “Casting Chain Plan”. The “Nanjing “5G Industrial Internet” Demand List was released on the spot, and through the collection of advanced and applicable industrial 5G terminal equipment, the supply and demand docking was accelerated, and the formation of the ability to serve the national “5G Industrial Internet” related terminal demand was accelerated.
In the supply and demand docking session, the Standards Institute of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology introduced the “5G Industrial Internet Development Trend and Prospect”, and Nanjing Unicom, Nanjing Telecom, China Mobile Zijin Research Institute, ZTE, Huawei, and Purple Mountain Laboratory shared the theme of “5G Industrial Internet” service capabilities and products. At the meeting, NARI Jibao, Meishan Iron and Steel and other enterprises signed strategic cooperation agreements with “5G Industrial Internet” service providers.
Nanjing will further give full play to the existing industrial foundation and scientific and technological innovation advantages, focus on the digital transformation needs of smart grid, steel, petrochemical and vertical industries, accelerate the integration and innovation and application empowerment of “5G Industrial Internet”, make every effort to create a good development environment to promote the implementation of “5G Industrial Internet”, promote the systematic development of industrial Internet in Nanjing, and contribute more Nanjing strength to the construction of a manufacturing power and a network power!
