Entering the production workshop of Xinhengji, the welding sparks were shining and the machines were roaring. Everywhere, there were busy figures. Technician Hu Aijun was skillfully operating the equipment. He told Xiao Li, “I’m from Nanjing. I returned to work on the eighth day of the lunar new year. ” “I’ve been working here for nearly 20 years. Now my monthly salary is over 10,000 yuan. I’m quite satisfied with everything. The orders have been scheduled until the end of the year. Everyone is extremely energetic!”
” This year, we plan to develop a large forging component, covering items such as the sealing heads, main pipelines, and pressure vessels for nuclear power plants. This is our development direction in the next one or two years.” Vice-Engineering Director Bao Yan Dong pointed out while introducing the new equipment under development. From the production end to the research and development end, Xinhengji is operating at full capacity and achieving a “full-speed” development. Currently, the company has nearly 60 million yuan worth of orders on hand, laying a solid foundation for achieving the sales target of 300 million yuan for the entire year.
Strive to achieve “the first reactor and the first component” and break the foreign monopoly
As a national high-tech enterprise and industry leader specializing in the research, manufacturing and service of key components for nuclear power equipment, Xin Hengji’s “confidence” not only stems from abundant orders, but also comes from its strong innovation capabilities.
“We have always placed great emphasis on technological research and development as well as talent recruitment,” said Vice General Manager Li Jiaquan. As early as 20 years ago, the company established a research and development center, closely monitoring advanced nuclear power technologies both at home and abroad. They have continuously invested in nuclear power pipelines and various key components from the third generation to the fourth generation reactor types.
This long-term investment has yielded numerous achievements. The company’s annual R&D investment accounts for over 4% of its revenue. It has obtained 64 authorized invention patents and 33 utility model patents. It has successfully entered the ranks of national-level “Specialized, Restricted, Innovative, and Small-scale” “Little Giant” enterprises. The company’s leading R&D products, such as the sodium cooling fast reactor secondary circuit sodium distributor and the nuclear-grade space multi-bend heat transfer tube bundle of the high-temperature gas-cooled reactor evaporator, have more than ten “first-of-its-kind” products, filling domestic gaps. Many of these technologies are also world-first.
“For instance, in the core components of sodium-cooled fast reactors, the key challenge lies in the precise deformation of the metal materials. We need to ensure both the shape tolerance and the internal material properties. We have achieved a perfect combination of the external appearance and the internal structure.” Li Jiaquan said proudly, pointing at the product. It is precisely because of such technical barriers that Xin Hengji has become a core supplier for Shanghai Electric, Dongfang Electric, and Harbin Electric Heavy Industries.”
Government services “bring about positive changes” to solve development challenges
The fast track of enterprise development cannot be achieved without the “protection and support” provided by local governments. “During our production and research and development, we encountered many difficulties such as personnel and venues, and all of them received strong support from the leaders of the street,” Li Jiaquan particularly mentioned. Due to historical reasons, some of the venues have not obtained land certificates for a long time, which has troubled the company for many years. “The leaders of Shiqiu Street repeatedly came to the company for research and coordinated with the superior departments. Eventually, they helped us solve this ‘mental problem’ smoothly, laying a very good foundation for the company’s development.”
From the transformation from petrochemical industry to the blue ocean of nuclear power, from obscurity to a “mini-giant” in the industry, the story of Xin Hengji is a vivid demonstration of the enterprise’s innovation-driven approach. It is also a true reflection of Shiqiu Sub-district’s efforts to optimize the business environment and promote high-quality development.
