Construction of the “Four Major Centers” Begins
The Nanjing Biomedicine Center is located in the Biomedicine Valley of Jiangbei New District. At present, the total construction area of the Modern Industrial Center, the incremental operating carrier of the center, is 337,000 square meters, with a total of 11 buildings. The transformation platform of the center is based on the biomedicine public service platform, and has more than 1.4 billion yuan of scientific equipment.

The seven innovative service policies include intellectual property services for early projects, pre-evaluation services for biomedicine, fast clearance of university research and development items, sharing services for scientific instruments and equipment, scientific and technological ethics services for university research and production, collaborative assistance between university achievements and medical enterprises, and joint construction of common platforms for university achievements.
“These funding support policies are mainly aimed at meeting the funding needs of projects at different stages. Compared with the current angel funds, our early project funding support is even more advanced.” Wu Hao gave an example. In recent months, the branch center has been busy visiting “gates” (school gates), entering “rooms” (laboratories), and entering “institutes” (hospitals). While conducting in-depth communication with universities and research institutes, it has also contacted hundreds of pharmaceutical companies to understand their needs.
“So far, we have visited 58 universities, selected 601 university achievements, and collected 128 enterprise needs.” On Wu Hao’s workbench, a stack of “questionnaires” of needs from enterprises and medical institutions and “answers” from universities are getting thicker every day. When a joint research and demand mechanism between universities and colleges is gradually closed, projects will come one after another.
Not long ago, the branch center welcomed its first batch of “makers” – the team of Professor Gu Zhongze, director of the Organ Chip Research Institute of Southeast University, brought their technology to the center to carry out further transformation of results.
At the same time, projects such as the application technology of traditional Chinese medicine, the base for outstanding engineers, and targeted protein drugs have been confirmed to be settled in.
It is reported that 12 projects have been implemented here and 27 projects are waiting to be implemented.
Not only is the project being implemented, the sub-center is also exploring new paths to pave the way for the “first kilometer” of scientific and technological achievement transformation.

Wu Hao introduced that the sub-center has established eight transformation platforms, including the Brain-Computer Crossover Platform and the Southeast University Jiangbei Medical Research Transformation Center, in cooperation with many universities across the country, including Peking University, Nanjing Medical University, China Pharmaceutical University, and Tsinghua University. “In the future, these transformation platforms will not only be cooperation between us, but everyone can use the platform to graft commercial resources and expand university resources. This is actually a two-way interaction.”
