On November 14, a significant investment exchange meeting between Nanjing Gulou District and the Middle East-Africa delegation was held in Building A of Gulou Innovation Plaza. The event was co-hosted by Nanjing Gulou District Development and Reform Commission and Nanjing Gulou High-tech Zone. The meeting focused on the field of artificial intelligence, and opened a new chapter for Nanjing Gulou District, China to build a “famous algorithm district” with national influence and strengthen cooperation with international partners. Hu Bin, Director of the Foreign Investment Management Office of Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Jin Xuechun and Wang Yuan, leaders of Gulou District, and relevant responsible persons of the District Development and Reform Commission attended the meeting. Abdulla Saad AL-Hamar, Senior Advisor of Qatar Investment Authority, Katarina de Silva, Chief Advisor of World Smart City Forum, Jaewon Peter Chun, Chairman of World Smart City Forum, Dr. Young-sup Joo, Distinguished Professor of Seoul National University, He Zhaokai, Head of South Asia of World Smart City Forum, and other members of the Middle East-Africa delegation, as well as representatives of domestic enterprises such as Nanxin Meteorological Data Research Institute, Yongyue Technology Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Company of Xiangjiang System Engineering Co., Ltd., and China Association of Small and Medium-sized Commercial Enterprises participated in the meeting.
Jin Xuechun, deputy district head of Gulou District, delivered an opening speech, briefly introducing the development and investment potential of artificial intelligence in Nanjing Gulou District to the guests, fully demonstrating the open and inclusive mind of the Gulou District Government. She said that China and the Middle East and Africa have a long history of friendship, and the “Belt and Road” initiative has also opened up a vast space for cooperation between the two sides. The Saudi Arabian Data Bureau’s artificial intelligence special fund is expected to be established in Gulou District, which is a major opportunity for the two sides to deepen exchanges and cooperation, and is an important opportunity to further strengthen technical exchanges, talent training and industrial development in the field of artificial intelligence . It is hoped that this opportunity can be used to further promote exchanges and interactions between the two sides in the fields of culture, education, tourism, etc., and enhance understanding and friendship between the people.
Peter, Katarina, Young-sup Joo and others from the Middle East-Africa delegation spoke on the theme of the conference, and invited three members of the World Smart City Forum to deliver speeches via video link. From the macro perspective of global smart city development, they accurately analyzed the core driving role of artificial intelligence in the process of smart city construction, as well as the positive significance of this cooperation in promoting regional and even global innovation and development.
Relevant responsible persons from the Development and Reform Commission of Gulou District promoted the business environment of Gulou District at the meeting, and comprehensively introduced the outstanding advantages of Gulou District in terms of industrial supporting facilities, talent resources, policy support, etc. Foreign guests and corporate representatives attending the meeting had a deeper understanding and knowledge of Gulou District, and saw the strong strength of Gulou District in the artificial intelligence industry, as well as the broad prospects for investment and business here.
