Jianning West Road cross-river passage connects the core area of Jiangbei New District and the main urban area of Jiangnan. The project starts from the intersection of Xingpu Road and Jiangbei Avenue in Jiangbei New District, crosses the Jinpu Railway along the east side of Xingpu Road to the south, crosses the Yangtze River in the form of a tunnel, and reaches Jinghai Temple along the east side of the current Jianning West Road. The total length of the route is about 6.8 kilometers, and the north section of the river is built according to the urban expressway standard, with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour, and the crossing section and the south section of the river are built according to the urban trunk road standard, with a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour.
The river crossing section of the project adopts a tunnel scheme, of which the shield section is 2380 meters long and the north-south open-cut section is 1983 meters long. The outer diameter of the shield tunnel is 14.5 meters, and the two-pipe two-way six-lane tunnel is driven from north to south by two mud-water balancing shield machines. A mutual interchange is set up at the intersection of Jiangbei Avenue, Hengjiang Avenue and Huimin Road. At present, the project has achieved the tunnel shield double line through, the main line of the river crossing is planned to be completed and opened to traffic in 2025.

Since being rated as a smart construction pilot city, Nanjing has timely studied and introduced relevant policy documents and implementation plans such as “Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Coordinated Development of Smart Construction and New Building Industrialization” and “Implementation Plan for Nanjing Smart Construction Pilot City”, strengthened the top-level design, and detailed the list of 61 tasks.
Up to now, 35 pilot projects have been identified, with a total construction area of 3.67 million square meters; There are 13 pilot enterprises, covering the whole industrial chain of survey and design, construction, parts production and technical services; The total construction area of new construction industrialization projects in the city is about 5.195,800 square meters, accounting for about 52% of the newly started construction area, ranking first in the province. Six experience practices have been successfully selected into the “List of replicable experience practices for the Collaborative development of intelligent construction and new building industrialization by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development”, and are recommended in the country.
In 2024, Nanjing will strictly implement the work in accordance with the “Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Coordinated Development of Intelligent Construction and New Building Industrialization” and the “Implementation Plan for Nanjing Smart Construction Pilot City”, and strive to achieve more than 55% of the total area of projects using new building industrialization technology in new construction projects in 2024.
