Recently, the list of 2026 Jiangsu Province’s characteristic rural construction demonstration projects was officially announced. Huangwanli Village in Baima Town was successfully selected. Let’s explore this hidden gem village together.
Huangwanli: Deeply Cultivated Berries, Fragrant throughout the Village. Huangwanli, this village located near mountains and by water, got its name due to its “nine turns and eighteen bends” water features. It carries the original aspiration of China’s blueberry industry development. Since sowing the first seedling in 1986, forty years of meticulous dedication have made it a well-known “blueberry hometown”.

After forty years of meticulous cultivation, a blueberry has undergone a remarkable transformation from single-planting in a test field to the development of an entire industrial chain. From the previous sporadic trial planting on a small plot of land, to the current 320-acre planting scale and over 90 new and superior varieties, with an annual output of fresh fruit reaching 224 tons and an output value of 7.68 million yuan, this small berry has turned into a large-scale industry.

With the guidance of experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 5G Internet of Things technology, this place has given traditional agriculture a new impetus of technological innovation. Through e-commerce and the “delivery and supply +” system, Huangwanli has bridged the “last mile” between production and sales. Blueberry fruits are still on the branches in the morning but can reach city dining tables by night.

Behind the prosperity of the industry lies the role of the Party branch as a combat fortress, which leads over 800 farmers to unite and develop together. There are over 100 online stores in the village, and the annual e-commerce sales exceed 10 million yuan. The village’s collective income reaches 7.91 million yuan, and the per capita disposable income of the villagers is 48,600 yuan.

Nowadays, the Blueberry Culture Exhibition Hall has become an important window for showcasing rural landscapes. The “Blueberry Harvest Season” has established Baimei Culture Tourism as a distinctive brand. Huangwanli, with a single blueberry as the medium, has painted a vivid picture of “industry thriving, village beautiful, and people prosperous”.
Take some leisure time or a holiday to visit this “treasureous countryside” at Baimei!
