Another headquarters in East China has settled in Nanjing.

Good news! Another new project – “Hualing Artificial Ear Technology East China Headquarters and Industrialization Base” – has officially settled in Qixia, Nanjing

Recently, Shanghai Hualing Artificial Ear Medical Technology Co., Ltd. signed an investment agreement with Qixia District, Nanjing City, marking the official settlement of “Hualing Artificial Ear Technology East China Headquarters and Industrialization Base” in Qixia, Nanjing. The total investment for the first phase of the project is 500 million yuan. It will build an intelligent manufacturing center, a testing center and a demonstration and training center with an annual output of 10,000 sets of cochlear implants and 20,000 sets of sound processors. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in the first half of 2027, and the output value is expected to exceed 500 million yuan by 2030.

As a medical technology enterprise with core capabilities in the underlying technologies of neural interfaces and brain-computer interfaces, Hualing Artificial Ear focuses on the typical clinical neuroengineering scenario of “artificial hearing” : by forming a stable coupling with the neural tissue of the auditory pathway through an implantable electrode array, it completes the closed-loop link from sound information to neural stimulus encoding. This direction belongs to an important branch of the key common technology system of Neural Interface and brain-computer interface (BCI) in industrial classification. Its key technologies are highly derived from the systematic requirements for electrodes, chips and algorithms in the BCI field. This is particularly reflected in the manufacturing of implant-level electrodes, low-power signal/stimulation-specific chips, neural coding and speech algorithms, as well as clinical-grade reliability and consistency verification, etc.

Relying on its independently developed domestic cochlear implant product system, Hualing artificial Ear has achieved independent control in core links: core chips, electrode arrays and voice algorithms have all been 100% domestically produced, breaking the long-term monopoly of foreign countries. The price of a single set has dropped by more than 30% compared to imported products, which is conducive to further enhancing the accessibility and affordability of cochlear implants.

The establishment of the headquarters in Qixia this time will rely on the university, hospital and clinical transformation resources gathered in Nanjing to jointly build an “Artificial Hearing Collaborative Innovation Center”. It is planned to incubate no less than 3 next-generation smart cochlear products and 10 assistive device derivative products within the next five years, to more systematically serve the needs of the hearing-impaired population in Jiangsu region. Build a comprehensive service capacity covering screening, implantation, adjustment and rehabilitation training for over 100,000 hearing-impaired patients. Meanwhile, the project will also, based on the existing accumulation of chips, electrodes and manufacturing platforms, moderately carry out manufacturing verification and engineering exploration of key components and processes of brain-computer interfaces under the premise of ensuring safety and compliance, in order to make capacity reserves for the potential research and development and implementation of brain-computer interface products.
The project is expected to create 120 new jobs, among which R&D and high-end manufacturing positions account for more than 60%. Meanwhile, Hualing Artificial Ear will jointly establish the “Hearing Rehabilitation Public Welfare Fund” with the Jiangsu Provincial Disabled Persons’ Federation and Nanjing Medical University, providing cochlear implant support and postoperative rehabilitation services for hearing-impaired children aged 0 to 14 in the province, and promoting the extension of high-quality hearing rehabilitation resources to the grassroots level.

The Jiangsu Brain-Computer Interface Research Institute was officially established in Qixia District, Nanjing in September 2025. It is a high-level research institution jointly built by Jiangsu Provincial People’s Hospital, the People’s Government of Qixia District and the Management Committee of Xianlin University Town. Relying on the “Jiangsu Province Brain-Computer Interface Common Innovation and Industry Service Platform” approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, the research institute has established a full-chain innovation system covering basic research, inspection and testing, clinical verification, product development and clinical application. It has innovatively created a reverse drive model of “starting from the operating table and asking questions to the laboratory”, ensuring that the research and development of key technologies such as flexible electrodes, signal processing and human-computer interaction always focus on the most urgent clinical needs. At present, the research institute has gathered 15 core council units, forming a deeply integrated support system of “government – industry – academia – research – medicine”, and providing all-round services ranging from the incubation of scientific research achievements, clinical research to inspection and testing. Meanwhile, with the strong support of the special policies of Qixia District, an innovation industrial park covering over 60,000 square meters, and a total industrial development mother fund of 5 billion yuan, we are fully committed to promoting cutting-edge achievements from the laboratory to industrialization, and are dedicated to building an internationally influential innovation highland for brain-computer interfaces.
According to the discipline layout and key deployment of the research institute, it is planned to build four common open platforms, along with one innovation service platform, including: common open platform, clinical research platform, data and computing platform, inspection and testing platform, and innovation service platform.

With the establishment of Hualing Artificial Ear Technology’s headquarters in Qixia District, Nanjing, the “Smart Rehabilitation + High-End Equipment” industrial map has added another heavyweight piece of the puzzle
