“Light up” the Chinese core at one time

At the beginning of this year, Muxi Integrated Circuit (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., one of the leading domestic GPU companies, completed the listing counseling and filing, and officially launched the listing process.

As its first wholly-owned subsidiary in China, Muxi Integrated Circuit (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. also recently reported good news and successfully obtained a patent called “chip SoC and electronic equipment”.

“An imported GPU chip the size of a fingernail can be fried for 200,000 yuan, and the supply is often cut off. After the realization of localization, GPU chips provide huge computing power support for the digital economy, and the market application has changed from ‘big brother’ to ‘PHS’. Wang Shuang, director of Muxi and general manager of Muxi (Nanjing) Company, held the packaged Xiyun C500 general-purpose computing GPU from the product display cabinet, this AI chip independently developed by Muxi, has just completed the Level II compatibility test with Baidu Paddle. The results showed that the compatibility requirements could be met and the overall operation was stable.

If artificial intelligence is compared to “digital life”, the GPU is its “heart”. Trillions of calculations per second drive the thinking and evolution of large models.

With its “high energy efficiency” and “high versatility” characteristics, Muxi’s full-stack self-developed GPU chips occupy a place in the market competition. The three main products, Xisi ®N series, Xiyun ®C series and Xicai ®G series, focus on intelligent computing and reasoning, general computing and graphics rendering respectively, building a comprehensive ecological solution integrating software and hardware for customers.

In September 2020, Mr. Chen Weiliang, a technology expert who used to work for AMD, founded Muxi. Just a month later, Muxi established its first wholly-owned subsidiary in Pukou to participate in the research and development of the company’s full range of products.

“The choice of Pukou is mainly based on two factors, the first is Nanjing’s talent pool, and the other is Pukou’s industrial ecology.” Wang Shuang said that Muxi (Nanjing) has developed into a team of nearly 100 people in more than 4 years, and the core team has an average of nearly 10 years of practical experience in the GPU field.

In the field of chip research and development, the “one-time lighting” rate is the standard to measure the technical ability of enterprises. “Chip tape-out is like launching a rocket, a success is very critical, and failure means hundreds of millions of waste.” Wang Shuang introduced that in view of the characteristics of cutting-edge integrated circuit technology, complex links and long R&D cycle, Muxi created the “50-week operation method”, which decomposes R&D to every day, and triggers the emergency mechanism after a delay of 3 days. Under extreme pressure, Mu Xi faced the challenge with an extraordinary “wartime state”, and the chip research and development were all successful at one time.
With the perennial accumulation of the industry and a keen insight into the market, Muxi has never lacked “suitors”. Over the past four years, the company has completed multiple rounds of financing, with a total amount of more than billions of yuan. What makes Wang Shuang very proud is that from the angel round of Heli Capital and TEDA Technology Investment, to the PRE-A round of Sequoia Capital and Zhen Fund, and even the subsequent Jingwei China, Lightspeed China, and Guotuo Fund, China’s industries and investors have always believed in and supported Muxi.

At present, Muxi GPU chips can benchmark against world-class products in terms of hardware performance, and in terms of ecological construction, Muxi has developed its own MXMACA software stack, which has independent intellectual property rights and is compatible with mainstream ecology.
In February this year, the DeepSeek all-in-one solution jointly released by Lenovo and Muxi was successfully launched, covering more than ten core industries such as finance, medical care, and teaching and scientific research.
In the context of the era when domestic GPUs are facing the “triple test” of technical limitations, ecological siege and scene fragmentation, Mu Xi, who has its own Tsinghua genes, is using “software and hardware synergy” as the underlying logic to make China’s “chip” strong with the upgrading of localized ecology
