“The Menxi Digital Life Block project has completed the capping of the main structure of all buildings, and is currently carrying out professional curtain wall engineering, outdoor comprehensive pipe network and landscape greening construction, which is expected to be completed in the second half of this year.” The relevant person in charge of the construction unit of Menxi Digital Life Block said.
Located at No. 52 Fengyou Temple, the Menxi Digital Life Block project is bounded by Mingyang Street in the east, Fengyousi Road in the west, Chengcheng South Road in the south, and Cotton Spinning Factory Road in the north. The project has three floors above ground and two floors underground, covering an area of about 80,000 square meters and a total construction area of about 167,000 square meters. Among them, the above-ground construction area is about 71,000 square meters, and the underground construction area is about 96,000 square meters.
At present, the main body of 10 new Chinese-style buildings has been capped, which is divided into an Internet of Things leading industry area, an innovative industry vitality cluster and a cultural and commercial supporting area. The building is a hybrid structure of steel and wood, with grey slab cement tiles echoing the hues of the nearby city walls.
The Internet of Things dominates the industrial area
Relying on the development of surrounding industries, the target is to position the high-tech industry highland led by the Internet of Things in East China and even the whole country. Innovative industry vitality cluster
Plan low-altitude economy, blockchain and other digital innovation-related industrial clusters. Cultural and commercial supporting area
Combined with the surrounding historical and cultural relics such as ancient Phoenix Terrace, Xinghua Village, Waguan Temple, Yuyuan, etc., and organically taking advantage of the environmental advantages close to the Ming City Wall, planning high-quality commercial facilities around the commercial areas such as Hujia Garden and Mingyang Street, and creating a circular commercial belt.
The Menxi Digital Life Block project has been included in the construction of Silicon Alley in Qinhuai City, and it is planned to focus on the Internet of Things and digital technology industry through in-depth research on the organic integration of industrial development and the protection and renewal of the old city, and continuously introduce high-quality Internet of Things enterprises while showing the historical features of Nanjing, so as to promote the gradual formation of the industrial chain ecology.
“By creating an innovative block featuring the agglomeration of the Internet of Things industry and different from the form of Mendong tourism and commercial block, we will form a dynamic area for the integrated development of cultural scenic spots, historical districts and smart parks.” The relevant person in charge of the construction unit of Menxi Digital Life Block said.
“Relying on Nanjing’s profound historical and cultural heritage, the Menxi Digital Life Block builds a ‘Laomendong-Laomenxi’ cultural dual-core linkage pattern around the axis of Zhonghuamen, and reshapes the spatial narrative of the historical urban area in the south of the city.” The relevant person in charge of the construction unit of Menxi Digital Life Block said that the design organically interweaves tourism and cultural scenic spots, industrial parks and urban blocks through the strategy of “integration of three districts”, relying on historical relics such as Phoenix Terrace, Yuyuan Garden, and Ruan’s Tomb on the north side to strengthen cultural gravity, and “Yuedong Xinmen West” on the west side injects scientific and technological kinetic energy, and the north-south corridor connects the Ming City Wall to form a functional layout of “cultural tourism + industry”.
The person in charge said that the spatial planning of the project takes the “roaming line” as the core, and builds a multi-dimensional experience network of “overlooking the city wall, walking through the streets and alleys, stopping in the courtyard, and exploring underground” through the above-ground setbacks, corridors, rooftop viewing platforms and underground parade lines, so as to realize the immersive interaction between historical scenes and digital technology.
The internal streets and alleys of the project are interconnected with the streets and alleys of the old city, expanding and enriching the street and alley system of the old city, and the building adopts a steel-wood hybrid structure slope roof system, which not only adapts to the large-scale space needs of the new industrial park with a light steel structure, but also echoes the texture of the surrounding traditional streets and alleys with the texture of the wood structure and the rhythm of the slope roof, and cleverly resolves the contradiction between the transition between the industrial plant and the small-scale streets and alleys of the old city, and realizes the revival of the ancient city.
The design integrates a variety of art display forms, and at the same time implants digital, AI and other scientific and technological formats, and finally forms a three-dimensional silicon alley that is “suitable for the past and the present”, which becomes a spatial link between Nanjing’s historical memory and future innovation, and provides a “growable” activation sample for the renewal of the old city, focusing on the difference of products, the integration of science and technology industry and history and culture, and the functionality of architectural space.
