“Hard-core support” activates source innovation: Nanjing Biomedical Sub-center introduced 23 makers to build nests

On March 12, in the office building of the National University Biomedical Regional Technology Transfer and Transformation Center (Nanjing, Jiangsu) (hereinafter referred to as the “Nanjing Biomedical Sub-center”), the R&D personnel of Innosys Biotech, an incubation project of the Drum Tower Hospital affiliated to Nanjing University School of Medicine, were conducting experiments using flow cytometry.
As a start-up company, Innosys Biotech focuses on the research and development of immune products using cell sorting, culture and gene editing technologies. “Our R&D needs to use flow cytometry and specialized cell rooms, and the company’s self-construction is not only costly, but also has a long cycle, and the Nanjing Biomedical Sub-center provides us with experimental space and equipment, which greatly reduces the entrepreneurial risk of the project.” Dr. Yafeng Wang, head of Innosys Biologics, said.
Billions of dollars in equipment investment
Provide “hard-core support”
The Nanjing Biomedical Sub-center, which was listed on December 27 last year, is aiming to serve the technology transfer and transformation of universities across the country, so that more biomedical “source innovation” can be transformed in Nanjing, and high “research value” can bring high output value.

In the field of biomedicine, the research and development of new drugs is a systematic project, which needs to go through countless tests and verifications, and requires the support of high-precision equipment. In the mass spectrometry center of Nanjing Biomedical Sub-center, there are more than 40 high-resolution mass spectrometry detectors alone. According to Lv Xingxiang, a staff member of the sub-center, the price of each mass spectrometry detector is as high as millions of yuan, which is a necessary equipment for scientific research transformation for university teachers and enterprises.
“In the Nanjing Biomedical Sub-center, university teachers and enterprises can not only make appointments to rent equipment, but also enjoy professional services throughout the whole process of drug development, such as providing the support of trial data at a certain stage of drug development, making project transformation more convenient.” Lu Xingxiang said.

After more than 3 months of operation, a relatively complete equipment and service platform has been built, and the construction of Nanjing Biomedical Sub-center can be called efficient.
