After Laba, it is Chinese New Year. Qingliangshan Station sends blessings.

As the saying goes, “After Laba, it’s the New Year.” January 7th was the Laba Festival in the lunar calendar. That afternoon, the Gulou District “Wanfu Yingchun” public welfare cultural benefit event, jointly organized by the Gulou District Party Committee Propaganda Department, the District Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and Nanjing Metro Operation Co., Ltd., kicked off at Qingliangshan Station on Metro Line 7.

Ten calligraphers from the Gulou District Calligraphers Association and Artists Association wrote Spring Festival couplets and sent the Chinese character “Fu” to subway passengers. More than 300 pairs of Spring Festival couplets and more than 500 “Fu” characters were written in this activity. The red Spring Festival couplets and the full “Fu” characters, under the dragon-scale-like lights on the dome of the station hall, exuded a strong flavor of the New Year and festive colors. 
The scene was crowded and the atmosphere was warm. The citizens who received the Spring Festival couplets gathered at the table enthusiastically, appreciating the on-site creation of the calligraphers, and took their customized works with a smile on their faces, and checked in with this “most beautiful subway station” for a souvenir.

Writing Spring Festival couplets with the Chinese character “Fu” is a traditional custom of the Spring Festival, which expresses people’s joy and yearning for a better life in the coming year. Gulou District will hold a number of “Wanfu Yingchun” public welfare activities before the Spring Festival. In addition to the first day event, it will also go to communities, parks, sanitation companies and other places to write and send good wishes for the Year of the Snake to community residents, park visitors, sanitation workers and others.
