On December 3, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a report on the summary and evaluation of key cities for the 5G application “Set Sail” action in 2024. Nanjing and 16 other cities have made breakthroughs in 5G traffic improvement, connection scale, application innovation, network construction, policy measures, etc., and were selected as key cities for the 5G application “Set Sail” action in 2024.
In recent years, Nanjing has combined its economic development stage and advantageous industrial layout, and successively issued policy documents such as the “Nanjing 5G Application Innovation Leading Action Plan (2023-2025)”, the “Nanjing “Dual Gigabit” Network Collaborative Development Implementation Plan”, and the “Nanjing Fifth Generation Mobile Communications Industry Development Promotion Plan (2020-2022)”. It has increased policy support and resource guarantees in accordance with local conditions, forming a trend of provincial, municipal and district-level linkage to jointly promote the large-scale development of 5G applications.Strengthening 5G network construction
The number of 5G base stations per 10,000 people reached 43.04 (as of the end of March 2024, the same below), and the city was awarded the “Excellent City” award in the special evaluation of mobile network quality in key places across the country. 306 5G industry virtual private networks have been built, covering multiple fields such as industry, ports, energy, and medical care, providing customized infrastructure support for the intelligent transformation, digital transformation, and network connection of the city’s manufacturing industry.Strengthen 5G traffic improvement
The penetration rate of 5G individual users reached 93.13%, and 5G network access traffic accounted for 60.78%.Strengthening 5G application connectivity
The number of 5G IoT terminal connections reached 280,600, the 5G application penetration rate of large industrial enterprises was nearly 40%, the 5G application penetration rate of tertiary hospitals reached 65.22%, and the 5G application penetration rate of educational institutions reached 37.25%.Strengthening 5G integration and innovation
80 projects won awards in the national finals of the Bloom Cup 5G Application, 18 were selected into the national 5G factory list, 20 5G+ medical health pilot projects, 7 5G+ smart education application pilot projects, 1 outstanding case of 5G application in the energy field, and 7 carriers such as 5G application innovation centers were cultivated and built.
In the next step, our city will focus on the large-scale application of 5G to enable the high-end, intelligent and green transformation of the industry, continue to promote the upgrading of 5G networks, applications, industries and ecosystems, and promote the deep integration of the real economy and the digital economy.
