On November 28, the “Smart Water Future, Building a New Blueprint” International Water Science and Technology Project Talent Exchange Conference was successfully held at Nanjing Hydraulic Science Research Institute, under the guidance of Jiangsu Provincial Water Resources Department and co-organized by Nanjing Hydraulic Science Research Institute, Nanjing Science and Technology Bureau and Gulou District People’s Government.
More than 100 people attended the event, including Zhou Weihao, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Provincial Water Resources Department, Dai Jiqun, President and Party Secretary of Nanjing Hydraulic Science Research Institute, Academician Hu Ya’an, Chief Engineer, Yin Jie, Deputy Director of Nanjing Science and Technology Bureau, Miao Dahong, First-level Researcher of Municipal Water Affairs Bureau, Wang Anwei, Shi Dan, and Yin Xingbo, leaders of Gulou District, and representatives of responsible persons from water-related universities, research institutes, design institutes, new research institutes, domestic and overseas enterprises, investment and financing institutions, international students from universities, and media representatives.
In his speech, Dai Jiqun introduced the main achievements of Nanjing Hydraulic Science Research Institute in the development of water conservancy, transportation, and energy, and said that the institute will strive to give full play to the role of platforms such as the Jiangsu Talent Research Consortium and the Jiangsu Smart Water Network Engineering Research Center, increase scientific research, continue international cooperation, better serve related industries, and promote regional economic and social development.
In his speech, Wang Anwei said that we should thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on water management, give full play to the basic advantages of regional water science and technology and water industry, strengthen the matching of high-quality resources of government, industry, academia, research and finance, strive to provide more application scenarios, attract more enterprises and talents to locate projects in Gulou and transform the results in Gulou, and jointly build an important source of scientific and technological innovation in the water industry.
Hu Ya’an gave a presentation on the theme of “Key Technologies for Canal Engineering Navigation”, reviewing the century-long history of canal engineering navigation. Focusing on scientific and technological innovation and talent introduction and cultivation, he elaborated on the innovative achievements in key technologies for canal engineering navigation, and welcomed talents from home and abroad to join Nanjing Institute of Water Science and Technology to promote the development of water science and the water industry.
At the event, the Jiangsu Talent Research Alliance, Jiangsu Academician Expert (Enterprise) Innovation Center, Jiangsu Smart Water Network Engineering Research Center and Nanjing Foreign Talent Comprehensive Service Center were officially unveiled, and the Nanjing (Gulou) Water Industry Science and Technology Innovation Alliance was officially established. Some water industry companies conducted project roadshows and released their talent needs at home and abroad. More than 20 representatives of international students from universities who attended the event conducted in-depth docking and exchanges with companies.
The event also attracted more than 20 water industry research institutions and enterprises from countries such as the Netherlands, Italy, Finland, and Israel to explore project talent cooperation paths, further expanding the influence of the water industry in Gulou District and even Nanjing City, and promoting the booming trend of developing water-based industries.
