Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the winners of the 2024 National Advanced Manufacturing Cluster Competition. A total of 35 advanced manufacturing clusters across the country were on the list. The Southern Jiangsu Special Steel Materials Cluster led by our city and the Yangtze River Delta (including Jiangxi) Large Aircraft Cluster in which we participated were shortlisted . Together with the previously shortlisted software and information services and new power (smart grid) clusters, our city has a total of 4 national advanced manufacturing clusters .
In the field of special steel materials industry
As the leading city of the cluster, Nanjing has focused on promoting the transformation and upgrading of the special steel industry in recent years, and has taken new steps in the high-quality development of the industry. By implementing the high-end boutique development strategy, it has built an important high-performance special steel plate production base at home and abroad. More than 100 products such as 9% Ni and thick crack arrest steel have reached the international advanced level, providing solid and reliable material support for many major national equipment and key projects. Deeply promote the industry’s “smart transformation, digital transformation and networking” action, the CNC rate of key processes in the cluster has reached 90%, and the leading enterprise Nanjing Iron and Steel has successfully created a national-level smart factory and built the industry’s first integrated smart operation center. All leading steel enterprises in the city have completed ultra-low emission transformation, and the cumulative emissions of major pollutants have decreased by about 50% in the past three years. Actively promote and apply the latest energy-saving and carbon-reduction technologies, the comprehensive energy consumption per ton of steel has dropped significantly, and the diversified guarantee capacity of scrap steel resources has been effectively improved.
In the field of large aircraft industry
Nanjing has initially established an aerospace industry development system focusing on the manufacturing of aero-engines and key parts, airborne systems, ground equipment, air traffic control systems, and complete drones. There are more than 100 enterprises above designated size, including 8 listed companies, 2 champions in manufacturing, 23 specialized “little giants”, and 26 specialized small and medium-sized enterprises. It has 8 national key laboratories, 3 national metrology centers, 1 national enterprise technology center, and 7 provincial enterprise technology centers. It has 18 academicians from the two academies in the field of aerospace, and nearly 400 young and middle-aged experts who enjoy special state allowances. It leads the country in R&D and production capabilities in the fields of power systems, airborne systems, and aviation materials.
