Zhou Ming is from Sihong County, Suqian City, Jiangsu Province. In 2019, Zhou Ming, then deputy secretary of the Party Committee and vice principal of Sihong Middle School of Jiangsu Province, was deeply attracted by Lishui’s emphasis on education and thirst for talents. He gave up the opportunity to teach at Kunshan No. 1 Middle School and came to Lishui with his wife, who is also a teacher . He also brought his profound accumulation and rich experience in the field of education to Lishui. When Zhou Ming first arrived in Lishui, he was appointed as the principal of Lishui District No. 3 Senior High School. From a first-class source school to a third-class source school, the differences in student sources and school conditions brought great challenges to Zhou Ming in school management. One Saturday morning, a boy handed him a letter made of test papers, telling about his mental journey from having no hope for further studies to Principal Zhou Ming’s speech under the national flag that helped him regain confidence.
Zhou Ming was deeply touched by the student’s letter. During the 10 months he worked at the Third High School, he started by stimulating students’ interest in learning and built a development platform that conforms to students’ development and specialties and taps their learning potential , allowing them to fully choose courses based on their interests and specialties and enhance their confidence in learning.
Transfer to another schoolShaping new management
In September 2020, Zhou Ming transferred to Lishui District No. 2 Senior High School. “Although the No. 2 Senior High School has a sound management system and has achieved impressive results, its school-running mechanism is still very traditional and is still far from the pursuit of ‘exquisite’ school-running.” After fully understanding the students’ situation, Principal Zhou put forward the school-running proposition of “caring about everyone”.
Therefore, an educational and teaching reform that highlights the “care” characteristic was rapidly launched in the Second Senior High School. “Care” about classroom performance , promote collective lesson preparation with three focuses on time, place, and management, and “precise classroom” construction with “four studies and one model”; “Care” about fairness and justice , improve the teaching performance evaluation system, and always insist on “speaking with grades” in teacher evaluation; “Care” about individual strengths , the school has developed 26 school-based courses, and freshmen in the first year of high school “grab classes” online; “Care” about cultural inheritance , and build a campus cultural system with “Yuxiu” as the core…

Today, as the head of a school, Zhou Ming still goes to the podium, uses his expertise in subject education to teach history to a class.
In the teaching process, Zhou Ming advocates “history lessons with soul” . Through vivid historical stories, rich historical materials and easy-to-understand explanations, he allows students to feel the charm of history in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. For different students, he insists on the educational idea of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude and one policy for each student. In addition, Zhou Ming also goes deep into the classroom to discuss teaching methods with teachers, encourages students to participate in classroom interaction, and stimulates their interest in learning and spirit of exploration.
Zhou Ming is not only an explorer of teaching, but also a thinker and practitioner of education. His WeChat public account “Morning of History” has pushed 232 educational insights totaling 450,000 words . In the five years since he came to Liyang, he has published two educational monographs , “Caring for Every Bird” and “Caring for Every Star” . On April 25, 2024, he opened a special lecture on family education for parents of students in Daijia Community, “We are all “ferrymen”, which was well received.
From the morning reading at 6:30 in the morning to the evening reading at 6:00 in the evening, Zhou Ming always habitually inspects all classes in the school. Under his leadership, No. 2 High School has won the title of Advanced Unit for Conduct Construction in Lishui District for three consecutive years, and the teaching quality has steadily improved, and the college entrance examination scores have also risen year by year. In the 2024 college entrance examination , the rate of passing the first-level undergraduate entrance examination of No. 2 High School increased by 11.8 percentage points, and the rate of passing the second-level undergraduate entrance examination increased by 20.3 percentage points .Settled in LishuiDreaming of a new life
As a “new Lishui person” and a representative of high-quality talents coming to Lishui, Zhou Ming has not only achieved gratifying career results in his “second hometown”, but also personally felt the charm of this city and gained the warmth of home. His wife, who came to Lishui with Zhou Ming, was assigned to teach at the district experimental primary school. The couple settled down in Lishui through the talent housing policy. “Lishui is an inclusive, open and beautiful city. The people of Lishui are warm and friendly. It has a unique cultural heritage and folk customs. ” Zhou Ming said.
In the five years since coming to Lishui, Zhou Ming has been impressed by the beautiful natural environment and rich cultural heritage of Lishui, and even more touched by the government and the public’s attention and support for education. “Working and living in Lishui makes me feel very happy and satisfied. I will continue to work hard and contribute all my strength to Lishui’s education.”
