“5G+Industrial Internet” refers to the use of new-generation information and communication technologies represented by 5G to build new infrastructure, application models and industrial ecology that are deeply integrated with the industrial economy. Through the comprehensive connection of people, machines, objects, systems, etc. through 5G technology, a new manufacturing and service system covering the entire industrial chain and the entire value chain is built, providing a new way to achieve the digitalization, networking and intelligent development of industry and even industries, helping enterprises to achieve cost reduction, quality improvement, efficiency increase, green and safe development.
In recent years, Nanjing has seized the development opportunities of “5G+Industrial Internet”, accelerated the construction and typical applications of 5G new information infrastructure , and integrated the development of the five functional systems of industrial Internet network, identification, platform, data, and security. In 2022, Nanjing received incentives from the State Council’s inspection and was rated as a city with remarkable results in building information infrastructure, promoting industrial digitalization, accelerating the innovative development of the industrial Internet, and promoting network and data security capabilities.

Strong infrastructure support
The city has built a total of 43,800 5G base stations, with 46 5G base stations per 10,000 people, ranking first in the province. 306 5G industry virtual private networks and more than 10 industrial independent private networks have been built. Four parks were selected as the first batch of “10,000 Gigabit Parks” in Jiangsu Province, and the scale of intelligent computing exceeded 9000P, both ranking first in the province. A relatively complete “1+1+14” industrial Internet identification resolution system has been established, and the number of identification registrations and resolutions ranks first in the country. One national-level industrial Internet dual-cross platform, nine characteristic professional platforms and 27 provincial key platforms have been successfully cultivated.02
Active development of industrial ecology
The city has built a total of 10 “5G+Industrial Internet” public service platforms and cultivated more than 100 key enterprises in the 5G field, basically covering all links of the upstream, midstream and downstream of the industrial chain and supporting services. The shipment volume of domestic brand industrial robots has remained the first in the country for five consecutive years, and the level of artificial intelligence development ranks first in the country and first in the province.03
Strong innovation leadership
The city has more than 1,000 national standards and intellectual property rights related to 5G and industrial Internet. Zijinshan Laboratory has leading research and development capabilities in cutting-edge fields such as future networks and 6G, and has created more than 10 “world firsts” in 6G terahertz real-time wireless transmission.04
Large-scale applications have achieved initial results
The city has built a total of 24 factories with more than 10 typical application scenarios of “5G+Industrial Internet”, and 7 factories have been selected into the list of 5G factories of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. ZTE has built the first five-star 5G factory in the country, and Yangzi Petrochemical, Nanjing Iron and Steel, and CRRC Puzhen have been selected as key industry practice cases and pilot demonstrations of the “5G+Industrial Internet” of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Through the construction of 5G factories, key enterprises have achieved an average reduction of 10% in energy consumption, 20% in comprehensive costs, and more than 30% in production efficiency.
