Create a new highland for medical care
On September 22, 2023, the southern campus of Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital was officially opened in Lishui Development Zone, and all departments are extensions of the main department in the southern campus and implement homogeneous management, which is a public tertiary hospital. The hospital covers an area of about 13,000 square meters, with a construction area of 54,000 square meters.
On October 31, 2023, the southern branch of Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital added the brand of “Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Hospital”; On January 8, 2024, the school-enterprise joint research center for advanced technology in cardiovascular ultrasound medicine was established and settled, and the ward of the cardiovascular medicine center was opened on the same day; On February 20, 2024, the neurology ward was opened; On August 28, 2024, the gastroenterology ward was opened…… In the past year, the southern branch of Drum Tower Hospital has made remarkable achievements in medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research, forming a development pattern of “strong specialties and excellent comprehensiveness” featuring cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, geriatrics, and rehabilitation medicine diagnosis and treatment services.

In terms of medical services, the southern branch of Drum Tower Hospital relies on the strong team of experts and advanced medical equipment of Drum Tower Hospital to provide high-level medical services for residents in Lishui and surrounding areas. The emergency department of the hospital is open 24 hours a day, and the outpatient department has 59 clinics in 5 districts and 35 departments. Eight wards have been set up, including the Cardiovascular Medicine Center, the Department of Neurology, the Department of Neurosurgery, the Department of General Medicine, the Department of Surgery, the Department of Gastroenterology, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the Department of Intensive Care Medicine. There are nearly 100 experts at or above the deputy senior level, including 18 well-known experts. By November this year, the hospital is expected to open nearly 400 beds.
In the past year, the monthly outpatient and emergency visits in the southern campus have increased from 13,200 in October 2023 to 19,200 in September 2024, an increase of 45.45%. The number of discharged patients increased from 221 in October 2023 to 802 in August 2024, an increase of 262.9%; The number of surgeries increased from 54 in October 2023 to 147 in August 2024, an increase of 172.22%, and a series of high-precision surgeries such as pacemaker implantation, carotid endarterectomy, and mechanical (stent) embolectomy for cerebral infarction were successfully completed.
