On August 6, McDonald’s China launched its scientific research headquarters in Baijiahui Innovation Community, Xuanwu District, Nanjing.
McDonald’s China plans to invest 4 billion yuan in digital development and innovation in the next five years. This facility will house more than 450 technical experts to serve as the intelligent hub behind 6,200 restaurants. This will support the upgrade of the catering industry and the development of new quality productive forces, making it easier for consumers to enjoy delicious meals.
The new building of McDonald’s China R&D center is situated in Xuzhuang Software Park adjacent to Xianlin University Town, benefiting from a talented workforce and cutting-edge technology.
The seven-story building has a total floor area of over 6,500 square meters, which can accommodate more than 450 technical experts.
“On the seventh anniversary of the ‘Golden Arches’, we are launching a brand new scientific research headquarters. It will collaborate with McDonald’s China in Shanghai to create a synergy effect that is beneficial to the formation of an innovation network in the Yangtze River Delta region.” stated Zhang Jiayin, CEO of McDonald’s China.
As of June 2024, there will be over 6,200 McDonald’s restaurants in the Chinese mainland, employing more than 200,000 people. Over 1.2 billion customers were served in 2023.
In 2017, McDonald’s China entered the “Golden Arches Era”, accelerating its development through franchising.
McDonald’s China is driving a stronger, better, and smarter business strategy to achieve its goal of 10,000 restaurants by 2028.
