01 China’s first underground tool changer
Coordinate Xia-Jin Bridge (Xiamen section) Huandao Road tunnel construction site, tens of meters underground depth, “Xia-jin” shield machine is preparing to cross the river and sea. Recently, a robot “Doctor” developed by the China Railway 14th Bureau made its debut and successfully replaced the “teeth” for the cutter head of the shield machine.
“Tooth” refers to the hob on the cutter head of shield machine, which is responsible for cutting rock and soil, but it wears out very quickly and needs to be replaced frequently. In the past, it was usually three operators with pressure into the cabin, in a small damp, dim light space, for several days, to replace a hob, a very difficult process.

Not long ago, the tool changing work entered a new stage — the robot developed by the 14th Bureau of China Railway was put into use, which is also the first heavy-load intelligent shield tool changing robot in China.
According to reports, the robot has 11 independent controllable movable joints. With a load capacity of 500 kg and a flexible and scalable configuration, it can cover the entire cutterhead of the 10-m to 18-m super diameter shield machine, easily grasp the heavy hob, and accurately complete the replacement.
The difficult tool change work is handed over to the robot, which not only shortens the hob change time to 25 to 40 minutes, but also does not require personnel to enter the cabin during the whole process, so the construction safety is guaranteed. It is worth mentioning that the software and hardware of this robot are 100% domestically produced and have completely independent intellectual property rights.

“Our robot, in the wind of 15 meters per second still work as usual.” Gu Zenghui, founder of Xinghe Huineng, introduced that the robot matrix launched by the team covers the whole process of wind power operation and maintenance, such as weld detection, tower cleaning and anti-corrosion spraying. It has established business cooperation with five domestic power generation groups such as Huaneng and Hudian, and has nearly 1,000 orders in hand.
For example, the new area enterprise Zhonghaida launched the iBoat series of intelligent unmanned measuring ship. Just last month, the technical team went to Dongjiang Lake in Chenzhou, Hunan Province, and completed the ultimate sounding verification in a complex reservoir environment with an average water depth of more than 50 meters. Finally, the measured water depth reached 44.69 meters, and the whole process data was stable and reliable.
“With unmanned survey vessels, there is no need for people to go into the water to do dangerous work.” Song Baoxiong, general manager of Haida, introduced that these “small boats” have become the backbone of domestic high-end underwater detection equipment, and have also gone out of the country and sold overseas. Just like the vision of the company at the beginning of its establishment, their “journey” is the sea of stars.
