Invest 1 billion! Xirilang “increases holdings” in Lishui

“Jello, I want Xiali郎 brand.” This advertising slogan that has been heard across the country for over 20 years holds countless people’s childhood memories. What many people don’t know is that a large portion of the products you often consume, such as Xiali郎 jello, Youlemei milk tea, and Meigao time seaweed, are produced in the Lishui Economic Development Zone.
After establishing a presence in Lishui for 23 years, this “national snack” brand has brought good news again: The Xirilang Group plans to invest 1 billion yuan to build a third-phase smart factory project on the south side of the factory area in the development zone. The goal is to turn it into the first “smart factory” of the Xirilang Group.

Having been rooted in Lishui for 23 years, it supplies 100,000 cases to the East China region every day.

In 2003, Nanjing Xirulang Food Co., Ltd. was established and put into operation in Lishui Economic Development Zone. It is one of the four major production bases of the Xirulang Group. The factory covers an area of nearly 400,000 square meters and has a total construction area of over 220,000 square meters. Currently, it has nearly 100 intelligent production lines.

Every day, approximately 100,000 cases of products are dispatched from here, supplying the entire East China market. By 2025, the output value of Nanjing Xirulang Food Co., Ltd. will reach nearly 2 billion yuan. Feng Hongbing, the general manager of Nanjing Xirulang Food Co., Ltd., introduced that currently the company’s products include four series: Xirulang jelly, Meigaoqinghai seaweed, Youlemei milk tea, and Kaini Shijian biscuits.

When talking about why they have consistently chosen Lishui, Feng Hongbing said: “We signed the contract here in 2002 and officially started production in 2003. At the beginning, we also conducted investigations in other places, but here, there was abundant support from the government, industrial assistance, and surrounding supporting enterprises. That’s why we chose to establish our business in Lishui and develop here.”

Invest 1 billion to build a smart factory, with an annual output value exceeding 3 billion.

To enhance product quality and production efficiency, Nanjing Xirilang has cumulatively invested nearly 100 million yuan. They have independently developed and renovated the jelly intelligent production line and deployed the digital intelligent manufacturing MES system. On this basis, the group is accelerating the construction of the third phase project, planning to invest another 1 billion yuan and introduce higher-level automation and digital technologies.

According to the plan, the third phase project will add 145 acres of land on the south side of the factory area to build a smart e-commerce center, a research and development center, and 17 production lines. The project will utilize 5G, AI, the Internet of Things, and automation technologies to promote the construction of a digital factory, and will be transformed into the group’s first “smart factory”, upgrading towards the “black box factory” model. Feng Hongbing said: “During peak seasons, our daily production is approximately 170,000 to 180,000 cases, and in normal seasons, it is around 100,000 cases. After the third phase project is completed, the annual output value of the Nanjing factory is expected to exceed 3 billion yuan.”

Since the beginning of this year, Nanjing Xirilang has been actively expanding its new retail channels and continuously launching short-term preservation and low-sugar snack foods, such as neutral puddings, sandwich seaweed, floral-flavored milk tea, and Yule coffee. These new products better meet the demands of young consumers for light burden and good quality. They have received favorable responses after being launched.

A cluster of food manufacturing enterprises has emerged, giving rise to the formation of a food industry ecosystem in Lishui.

It is worth noting that in the vicinity of Xilirang in Nanjing, there are also several well-known food enterprises: Huiyao (Jiangsu) Food Co., Ltd., established in 2010, focuses on the research and production of snack foods. Its representative product, mango dried fruit, has cumulatively sold 4 billion pieces and ranks among the top in terms of production volume and sales volume nationwide; the “Xiaoyangren” and “Miaolian” brands under the Xiaoyangren Group have accompanied generations of consumers through wonderful times; snack brands such as “Zuo Shang Ke” are also located in this area.

These “food giants” are located close to each other, forming a unique food industry ecosystem in Lishui. Currently, Lishui District has established clusters such as snack foods and fruit and vegetable processing. There are over 20规模以上 food industrial enterprises in the area, including “the king of steak” Dadi, “the first stock of Chinese buns” Baibi Food, and “the coffee super factory” Magin Coffee Nanjing Factory, etc. Their products target the daily flavor of daily meals.
