The robots in the automated warehouse received the instruction “Order arrived” and quickly sorted out the parts. The intelligent shuttle vehicles then delivered the parts to the corresponding production lines accurately and quickly.

On the eighth day of the first lunar month, the first working day of the Year of the Horse, I walked into the Phoenix Electric China Company’s full-value chain super factory (China Phoenix Base No. 2) located on Maoyuzhong East Road and witnessed such a production scene.
Work started on the second day of the Lunar New Year. The orders are so numerous that we can’t afford to waste a moment! Currently, over 100 production lines are operating at full capacity. It is estimated that the order volume for the first quarter will increase by approximately 30% compared to the previous year. “Production manager He Yixian said. The Phase I project of the Phoenix No. 2 base mainly produces electrical products such as terminal blocks and cables for control cabinets, which are sold worldwide.

“The layout here is ‘five outgoing and three incoming’. That means five of the tracks are used to send the material boxes out, while the other three tracks are for sending them in.” He Yixian said. Subsequently, the sensors on the vehicle can identify the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) on the tracks. Through real-time data interaction, precise positioning is achieved, further enhancing the accuracy of the material delivery process.

On some equipment, after being subjected to rolling and vibration, the parts will automatically find their own tracks. They will then be assembled by an automatic mechanical hand and undergo 100% camera or electrical performance testing. The products as per the order are thus completed. “Now, some equipment can enable one operator to oversee 7-8 machines simultaneously,” He Yixian explained.

It is known that the first phase of the No. 2 base project began operation in late 2020. It adopted the control platform independently developed by Phoenix Electric, and for the first time in China, it applied the world’s most advanced multi-layer shuttle cart flexible logistics system and precise remote unmanned delivery, achieving a complete “seamless connection” between production and logistics, and realizing the automation of logistics and information flow throughout the procurement to delivery process. After the project was put into production, the factory’s comprehensive production cost decreased by 10%, the number of warehouse workers was reduced by 50%, the manufacturing cycle was shortened from 7 days to 5 days, and the production capacity was increased by 30%.
Last year, the full-value chain super factory project of Phoenix Base No. 2 adjacent to the first phase project was officially started. Once completed, it will jointly form the Phoenix Base No. 2 in China with the first phase project, creating a three-in-one full-value chain integration system for components, finished products and supply chain, and achieving automation and intelligence in the entire process of procurement, production and logistics distribution.
